Creative Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1:
... recently purchased a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 in an auction from the States and shipped it over to the UK where I live. This worked out cheaper after paying the import duty I found, as long as you can pick up the item at a good price. I paid £129 including import duty. On getting the product I installed it straight away, after I had repaired my power pack after a recent lightening strike. Installation wa... Read the full review: SB Live! Creative Sound Blaster Live! ... you've read any of my other Creative opinions, you'll know that I'm not too impressed with the quality of their products. The GeForce II MX graphics card I bought from them started to shed parts, and the CD-RW drive I bought decided to stop working after 6 months. However, I needed a sound card and I needed one quickly. So, for a laugh I decided to buy a Soundblaster Live! 5.1. However, after a few minutes using this product I was actually quite impressed. Combined with a 5.1 speaker solution from Cambridge Soundworks, I soon had my PC running with full surround sound and EAX support in games. So, what do you get with this piece of hardware? Well, o... Sonic Fury ... bought this card when my SB live Value sound card broke down and I wanted to avoid install problems so I bought this card. It was slighty more expensive than the equivalent Sound blaster card but I have no regrets in buying it. The card has 6 channels enabling 5.1 support or if you do not have a 5.1 speaker set you can configure the outputs to give your 2 or 4 channel outputs and a headphone socket. Also included is the usual joystick port that is on just about every sound card in exsitence. Installation was a cinch and the software is so far rock solid. you can configure the amount of voices the card can use as well as the usual sliders for each input. Also inclu... Sonic Fury ... is an excellent sound card. I bought it in preference to the Creative SoundBlaster Live, and have been very pleased with it. The software is useful and easy to use, and the performance of the card is faultless. The nature of the card's chipset also means that this performance is largely driver-based, so it can be improved in future with new driver releases. The card also supports both standards of 3D audio - EAX and A3D, and will output Dolby 5.1. It has connectors on the back for pretty much anything you want (so many in fact that I had to cut out some of my case to be able to reach them all!) - I use the Creative Labs 5.1 speakers (DT2500?). I have found... Read the full review: VideoLogic SonicFury by crispy |
