Aureal have allways been the best when it comes to producing top quality 3D positional Audio. This card with the Votex 2 chipset id no different. Even with a 2 speaker set up the Aureal Vortex 2 can produce sounds that appear to be coming from anywhere in 3D space. I was well impressed by the effect of A3D, which is one of the main techniques of producing three dimensional sound via a sound card for games and what not. It delivers and effect which is significantly deeper than stereo. In games like Half-Life the feeling of something behind is almost eery. Certainly worth having, considering when cheap cards of this type can be acquired for under £40 these days. Also, they are meant to alleviate some of the workload form the CPU and that's no bad thing.
