I bought this because my built-in sound card broke down. This sound card works great, it is simple and easy to install.
I am using it with Windows 7, and I downloaded the driver from the Trust website. The manufacturer have replied promptly to my support request emails with screenshots as well.
Make sure you have the screws for this as none are provided.
The installation was really simple, it just slots in, you put the two screws in and that's you done! I am not a sound engineer but sound comes out of it, and is good as far as I can tell. Basically, it does what is says on the box for a good price. If you are looking for a sound card, this should work no problem. Just make sure it is compatiable in terms of hardware with your computer and that you have a slot available for it.
I would definitely not hesitate in recommending this sound card.
This is, in my opinion, a fantastic sound card overall. At a bargain price of £13, I don't believe that any other sound card provides anywhere as near as much value for money.
This is extremely simple, and explained well in the user manual. You simply insert the PCI card into a spare PCI slot in your computer, install the included driver software and your away. However, when using Windows 7 it is important to know (which is NOT printed in the instruction manual) that you must download the driver software from the website as the Windows 7 software is not included on the disc. Whilst the disc will provide working drivers for the sound card, the configuration software it installs, on Windows 7, causes huge problems such as, in my case, freezing windows explorer on start-up and every time I opened the software. However, once I had downloaded the correct driver software it was extremely easy to install.
The sound card outputs using the 5.1 surround sound standard of 3 differently coloured 3.5mm jacks (black, orange and green) and has a single 3.5mm input jack for a microphone or other input device. It can also output stereo sound by simply using only the green 3.5mm jack plug.
The Windows 7 software that is used to configure the speakers is easily usable and useful for changing the settings. It is OK in quality, although it feels a little amateurish, but, then again for £13 it is what i expect.
Sound Output Quality
I use this sound card with a set of Logitech X540 5.1 surround sound speakers and they sound excellent. My only complaint would be that at louder volumes, there is a small amount of noise (crackling) but not audible whilst other sounds are being outputted.
I recommend this sound card to anyone who wants good quality 5.1 surround sound audio, but isn't willing to spend big bucks on something only a fraction better.
