Advantages: A nice friendly place to work out

Disadvantages: The personal trainer who love themselves and the price

After having my first baby I felt pretty rubbish about my body so I joined this gym to lose a bit of weight.

It's situated in the Warner Village Complex and is about a five minute walk away from the barbican and Plymouth Hoe. It has a huge free car park where you are garanteed a parking space unless you make the mistake of deciding to go on an Orange wednesday. You will probably find that you can't park anywhere and will either have to go home again or spend hours trying to park in one of the back streets which are all permit parking anyway.

When I was a member it cost me £40 a month and this entitled me to access to the gym whenever I wanted. You can pay a cheaper fee for an off peak membership but I'm not sure what the price is when the times are.

The gym consists of a lovely 20metre pool that doesn't have a deep or shallow end which was great for me because I hate being out of my depth. The pool usually has one lane closed off for hardcore swimmers. Next to the pool is a sauna and jacuzzi which are always fun to relax in.

The actual gym has all the usual machines that you find in any gym and lots of weights for those big tough men. If you are going to use the gym then beware of going on a monday night. My guess is that everyone has eaten really badly over the weekend and think they had better start the week with a workout. Sometimes I would be stood for about twenty minutes waiting for a machine.

They gym has a timetable of lots of different classes that you can do, from aerobics to pole dancing and aqua to hard core bike riding. They also run swimming lessons for children but they come at an extra cost.

You can also get a personal trainer to help you out but I warn you now they aren't as hunky as the ones you see in the films They seem to have this attitude of 'I'm so stunning and amazing look at my tight butt cheeks and huge muscles', which can be quite off putting.

There is a lovely restaurant that serves light lunches at a reasonable price. Sometimes I would have a workout and swim then arrange to meet my hubby there for a bite to eat. However if you are on your own then you can read the daily papers or watch some TV on the bigscreen.

The locker rooms are spacious and the lockers are really big. The showers provide you with free soap and there are free hairdryers if you need them.

The staff on the reception desk are all really nice and friendly and are always up for a laugh and a chat and make the whole experience a nice one.

Over all I found it a nice place to have a bit of 'me' time but it was on the expensive side and now I have gotten rid of our car and walk everywhere I get my daily workout from that instead.

Summary: A nice gym with lots of style
