A relaxing time at Champneys (Champneys Health Resort Forest Mere)

Advantages: Lovely surroundings and very clean inside

Disadvantages: Very expencive and most stuff will cost more on top

I decide to take a over night break with my girlfriend to Champneys at Forest Mere. This was the first time I had been to a health spa and I have to say I was very impressed. My girlfriend who had been to similar places before was equally as impressed.
The health spa is set in very beautiful surroundings with lots of tree and a lovely lake out the front.
Inside it is very clean and luxurious looking and the staff at reception are very helpful and friendly.
The room we had was a superior room which had a great view of the lake. The bed was massive, although it was just too beds pushed together but I did kind of feel for what we got extra in superior we may have well saved the money and just gone for a standard room. Overall though the room was very well decorated and impeccably clean.
Included in the price was all your meals and for our evening meal we had a 3 course dinner which was very nice indeed, the main course was roast lamb which was very tender. Unfortunately only water is included for free with the meal and the wine started at £25 a bottle.
The health spa offers a DVD rental service which we though was free but on checkout turned out to be £4 a DVD which was unexpected.
Included in the price was a 25 minute massage which was very relaxing. It was just a shame it was not slightly longer.
The staff at the sports and fitness area were on the whole very helpful. The did have one trainer who just seemed to be very miserable & didn't really seem to be giving the same level of service as all the other staff members.
The hire bikes to be honest weren't the best and I was only able to select gears 6 to 12 but at least they were included in the price.
The tennis court and rackets that they provide were very nice. Also the pool was very nice and a nice temperature. For some reason they have a separate steam room and sauna room for men and women which was slightly disappointing as it meant we had to do that on our own.
Overall my girlfriend and I had a very nice time and funds permitting will be happy to go back.
