At this point my schedule for the day was also explained to me although I was a bit suprised to find that not all of my expected treatments had been scheduled and this had to be corrected. All of the treatments I had were very enjoyable and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere at this site. However, I did feel that the treatments were a bit production line and you are really just on a bit of a beauty coveyer belt rather than receiving any real individual attention. I would have also prefered to have some input on the order and timing of treatments as I had my massage right at the start of the day so the lovely smelli... more

I did a day spa at Forest Mere. The main plus point of this location is the really beautiful grounds with the spa being set within huge and stunning gardens. The reception I received was very friendly with a lovely fresh juice being provided on arrival. Forest Mere - well worth a visit (420 words)

I have just returned from my first visit to Champneys Forest Mere and it was an amazing experience. On first approaching the house I was gobsmacked at it's beauty, and then intimidated, which shouldn't have been the case. I was greeted by Agnes with a warm welcome and soon put at ease. The weather was a typical English summer, but instead of hampering my time it ensured the grounds stayed lush and green and there were plenty of alternative classes that prevented me missing being outside. Accommodation was bright and airy, comfortable and relaxing without being outdated. Unfortunately the class timetable changed during the stay, and for several days ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Champneys: Relaxing at Henlow Grange (2255 words)

When my daughter had her third baby last summer I decided to treat us to a day experience at Champneys Henlow resort in Bedfordshire because I thought she needed a break and her husband could get to know their new daughter with a day alone with her. I am not really a woman who enjoys being pampered and I even get bored in the hairdressers so this was more a treat for her than me, or so I thought. In reality I loved every minute of my day. I had booked us in for a Top to Toe day which cost £280 for both of us, I chose this package because I knew my daughter would enjoy the manicure and pedicure. The day also included a body massage, facial and use of all the ...  Read the complete review

I am a sporadic spa user and have visited Forest Mere as a Premier Guest approximately 18 months prior to the stay commented on below, that stay was good, however, this visit......... o My husband made a booking for a Weekend Mini Break at the Superior standard as a gift in April 2007. o I made contact with the booking service in June/July and confirmed the September date of my stay. During that conversation I requested that I could have a room with a lake view which the operative confirmed. I went on to quiz the operative as to the differences between the types of room and was assured that all Superior rooms would have either a balcony or a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Champneys: Lacklustre not Luxury (244 words)

Well, I had already booked for Forest Mere before I read the reviews. Having returned I have to agree with all that has been said. I felt very priviliged to be driving up by the beautiful lake for a couple of days luxury only to be greeted with a sign that directed Premier guests in one direction and all others to what felt like the back entrance. The grounds are very attractive if its nice weather, otherwise its all a bit claustraphobic inside. The staff are very pleasant but the whole place a little tired and old fashioned. The food was very pleasant but eaten off tables from Little Chef, not even covered with linen for the evening meal. The teachers were ...  Read the complete review
