Nice but not the best (Champneys)

Advantages: Beautiful location (Forest Mere)

Disadvantages: A bit of a beauty conveyer belt

I did a day spa at Forest Mere.

The main plus point of this location is the really beautiful grounds with the spa being set within huge and stunning gardens. The reception I received was very friendly with a lovely fresh juice being provided on arrival. At this point my schedule for the day was also explained to me although I was a bit suprised to find that not all of my expected treatments had been scheduled and this had to be corrected.

All of the treatments I had were very enjoyable and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere at this site. However, I did feel that the treatments were a bit production line and you are really just on a bit of a beauty coveyer belt rather than receiving any real individual attention.

I would have also prefered to have some input on the order and timing of treatments as I had my massage right at the start of the day so the lovely smelling oils were all washed off when I then went for my swim and sauna. Although the food served was lovely I had to rush my lunch because I had another treatment schduled for just half and hour after lunch started.

Despite these down sides it is an enjoyable day although I think you can get more for your money elsewhere.

Summary: I'd go again but Champneys wouldn't be my first spa choice
