Advantages: Great therapists, nice nails, really relaxing, not too posh

Disadvantages: We got lost!

For another part of my 21st birthday, my mum booked a spa afternoon at Miracles spa in Gosport.

We had some worries about going to a spa, mainly getting naked for a massage, and what the therapists would be like. My mum chose this one as it didnt look too posh and out of our league, it was also ladies only so there wouldnt be any manky blokes in the sauna.

We got a bit lost on the way there, as its in a residential area, and looks nothing like the photo which shows it to be a sort of Greek palace! However we phoned the spa and they gave us very helpful directions.

When we arrived we were shown around where we would have our treatments, what to do when we came out of the swimming pool, and what time our treatments were starting.

We first went for a swim in the tiny pool, its fine for floating and relaxing but not really big enough to swim properly in. We didnt mind and tried out the sauna and the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was huge, we had the pool, sauna and jacuzzi all to ourselves which was great!

After 45mins in there we got into our dressing gowns that they had left in the changing rooms for us, and went upstairs to wait for our therapists. We didnt have to wait long, and we just had to sign a form to say we werent ill or anything.

Then we went into seperate massage rooms, and I had a neck, shoulder and back massage for half an hour. It was so nice, and went really quickly. My therapist was the same age as me and was very friendly without being too chatty.

I then had a facial, which was also very relaxing, and this lasted an hour.

After the hour we got up and felt very sleepy, it certainly does work! We then got dressed, and then went back upstairs for our manicure and pedicure. They also made us a cup of tea to revive us. I had a manicure and my mum had a pedicure. Our nails came out looking lovely, and they had a good range of colours for you to choose on. The products they used really soften your feet and hands, and the therapists are very easy to chat to. We had this in the same room, so it went really quickly as we were chatting the whole time.

The spa also offers gym membership and if you have the membership you can get money off treatments. We didnt see any of this as we live too far away to sign up.

This family run spa was a really nice present for my 21st, and I can recommend it to anyone who is a bit scared of going to a spa thinking its going to be full of old ladies 'what lunch'. The therapists are young and enthusiastic, and the whole experience was very relaxing.

I think the day cost around £90 each, but you can have a whole day for twice the price and they will also provide lunch (a salad), and you get both manicure and pedicure, and also they style your hair and makeup, and you also get a full body massage.

Summary: I really enjoyed it
