Advantages: Felt great physically after fasting.
Disadvantages: Spa village is quieter than Spa beach
In December I stayed at Spa Samui. For the most part, I found the fasting to be really good experience, felt great physically after I had finished.
But, I have to highly recommend against consulting with Neil, the hypnotist, especially if you are slightly overweight and a little insecure about it. He is a complete hack and basically I felt like I paid money just to be insulted.
On my 6th day at the spa I was almost done with my fast, had lost 4 kilos and was feeling really good about myself. I decided that I wanted to work on making more changes in my life.
I contacted Neil and told him that I wanted to meet with him. I said I wanted to work on getting rid of negative energy and to learn to think more positively about life in general.
When I met with him the first thing he did was ask me about my childhood. I felt this was not really necessary and inappropriate. He is not a psychologist.
Then he says to me "did you come here to lose weight? were you overweight as a child?"
I found this very insulting. I told him that I have only recently let myself go a bit. I've put on about 10-15 extra kilos over the past couple years since I have been living in a certain city in Asia where I feel invisible. Now, I am 5' 2" and I weigh 70 kilos, OK so I'm not exactly thin , but I'm not obese either! I know what the problem is and I know what to do to fix it and that was not what I came to him for. we kept going round and round about this. And he kept talking about my weight and saying I had to address my "comfort eating issues."
Needless to say the hypnotism didn't work. We had come to some sort of agreement where we would address my "comfort eating " and the negativity.
But, I still just felt so upset about the things he had said to me. It still bothers me, 7 months later.
I can't stress this enough, don't go to Neil.
Summary: I felt like I paid money just to be insulted.
