      Highly recommended!

I visited this nail salon in the covered market in Barrow-in-Furness in February 2010 while visiting family who live there (it's where I grew up). Living in London I'm used to paying upwards of £15 for a manicure (have paid £27 in Nails Inc but never again!) so was really excited to see that it would cost only £7.50 here. I phoned up on a Thursday morning and made an appointment for later that day. However I think it must get busy because there were only 2 slots left in the whole day.

The salon is run by a lady called Paula. As well as manicures, she also does nail extensions (gel and acrylics, both very reasonably priced from £25), nail art - see the website for amazing examples! - and also waxing and eyebrow shaping. The salon is quite compact, just a small market stall, but it is covered on three sides so you don't feel too exposed! Paula herself was lovely, very chatty and friendly and immediately put me at ease.

At the back of my mind I wasn't expecting this to be that good, bearing in mind the very reasonable price, but I was so surprised! Paula spent over half an hour on my nails, starting my cleaning and buffing them, shaping them into perfect ovals, soaking my hands and applying cuticle cream, then gently shaping and trimming my cuticles (which were in a really bad way!) She finished by giving me a beautiful French manicure with a choice of natural shades for the whole nail (I chose a lovely pearly pink colour) and the most tidy, accurate white tips I've ever seen.

I was so pleased! I felt really relaxed throughout the whole process and really enjoyed the experience. The fact that this was the best finish I've ever had was the icing on the cake. A week later I still have the polish on, and although the very tips of my nails are starting to chip, they looked perfect for a good 5 days.
