Advantages: Felt totally relaxed after a session
Disadvantages: Temperature - could be a bit warmer
The Thermae Bath Spa is a great place to go if you want to chill out.
We chose the Twilight Package. It is available Sunday - Friday from 4pm and last entry into the spa is at 6pm. It costs £35 per person and includes:
* 3-hour spa session for the price of 2 hours, including the time in the restaurant
*Complimentary use of towel, slippers and robe
*An individual main course from the 'menu of the day' including a vegetarian option OR a delicious meat & cheese platter for two to share
* Choice of a glass of house wine, lager, juice or water
We went into the spa at 5.30pm and opted to have our food first as we didn't want to be sitting on the restaurant in a wet robe. We were planning to have a meal later on so we opted for the meat and cheese platter and the house wine. The house white wine was really tasty and the cheese and meat platter was lovely. I don't know what size portion the main meals are but I would get the platter and treat it as a starter rather than depending on this for your main meal of the day!
The changing rooms are really big and there are individual rooms and lockers to put your stuff into.
We went to the open air pool first and this was heaven. There were lots of other people in it but the water felt great and the view over Bath was amazing. We then went to the steam rooms. There are 4 different steam rooms and each of them have different aromas and temperatures. Then we went to the Minerva bath. The minerva bath felt like an indoor swimming pool, although it was very relaxing.
We spend most of our time in the open air pool and felt really relaxed and tired after it.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Thermae Spa. Was it worth the money? Yes, it was to us because the wine was lovely and to see the sun going down while sitting in an open air pool in September in the UK was amazing. The only negative for me was the temperature. It could have been a little bit warmer, although it was fine.
It is something you either love or hate.
I loved it!!!!
Tip: if you want the place to yourself go mid-week or early in the morning because it gets really crowded.
