Let me introduce you to a little fellow with a big voice.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Altec Lansing Orbit!
A 40mm diameter speaker that fits into the palm of your hand but can fill a room with a big sound thanks to a full bodied 360 degree sound with a nice rich bass tone, considering it's a portable speaker, this is a real bonus and makes it a far better choice than many in the same price range.
I mostly use mine for my work pc but I do plug it into my mp3 player when I'm working alone, but hey... don't tell my boss! So equally fine for health & safety modules or The Ramones!
It takes 3 x AAA batteries, I would recommend that you use rechargeable if you are going to use this often and loud as I do or it will cost you more in the long run.
On the downside, the on/off control is a pain in the bum. You activate it by twisting the ring around the edge of the unit which sounds simple but is a tad trickier than it should be. Also, it would be nice if you could buy a case to protect it in transit, so far though, I've not come across one.
Apart from that it's all good and perfect to pop in your bag when travelling as it is small and lightweight at just 230g so you hardly notice it's there. You also get a nice long cable that conveniently wraps around the unit when not in use.
As far as the price is concerned, it will currently set you back £16.95 on Amazon and I have seen it cheaper, so shop around for a bargain.
I love mine and I'm happy to recommend it.
Four Stars, losing one for the rather fiddly on/off control.
Thanks for reading.
Moon Out.
