I searched lots of different speakers when looking to buy and I found the Azatom which had pretty good reviews and costs about £25. I use it at work everyday so wanted it to be pretty durable. It can be used with most I phones and I pods which is great as you need to be careful with other speakers that the are compatible. My phone is always running out of battery so it is great that it charges the device whilst playing it.
The unit is really slick and looks great. I chose silver and wanted it pretty generic for my office but it can be purchased in black, pink and blue as well. It is small and portable and can be used via a mains plug or with batteries so can be taken to the park. People have been pretty impressed so far with the amount of noise from such a small unit and the sound quality is really clear. I have been playing music through this rather than my Hifi now as it sounds better.
A good choice for the price!
The speaker is great for people looking for something compact and portable but don't want to compromise on sound quality. I bought mine for £21.99 from Amazon but I've also seen them go for less than that on sites like eBay so they're definitely not expensive at all, would be great for a teenagers room or something for the office. I think the sound quality is really good at both the lowest and highest settings which is something you don't normally get on the cheaper docking stations so I was pleasantly surprised. You also get a remote with it which means it's good if you sit it on a shelf but still want to be able to control the sound and song etc, which I think is a really nice bonus because you don't get this with many other docking stations I've seen - even with some of the more expensive ones. I think this would be good for taking on holidays or camping as it can be used with batteries which is a pro, and they don't drain too fast either. I use mine in the kitchen and it's plenty loud enough to fill the room with sound. Great quality, great value compact speaker!
There are some quite detailed reviews on this docking station so I will try not to cover the same as what everyone else has already stated. My brother recently purchased this Docking Station of eBay for £19.99.
The main purpose for purchase was that all of our household are currently iPhone users and we all have a passion for music although our preference of music is widely varied so me and my bro decided that this would be the perfect solution for the Kitchen as its quite dinky and can be placed in areas with limited space. It also looks very smart with a modern feel, oblong shape with speakers at either end of the unit.
Upon removing the product from the packaging it becomes apparent that this isn't as cheaply made as the price reflects, actually feels like a good strong quality build that has being carefully designed and constructed. The unit is powered by UK mains power and can also run alternatively via Battery Power. The buttons are of a stylish chrome design which adds a little more glammer and bling to the unit.
The iPod dock is based in the centre of the unit and it is of ease to plug in and remove your device, the unit is compatible with any iDevice using the standard iPhone charging point. For the price margin this is a real nice docking station which have only owned for the last 3months has worked perfectly every time, we probably use our unit a few times a week when preparing food and carrying out household domestics.
There is a huge range of docking systems available on the market today with a large range in pricing and features, if you are looking for a fairly basic system that will give your iPhone or iPad that bit more volume then this is the perfect solution, its not overly loud but the quality of sound that is produced is acceptable for type of product.
Thanks for reading
Well i have had this for a little while now and am very happy with it.
It is very compact slightly larger around than the inner cardboard tube of a kitchen roll, but about the same length.
The remote is small, but does everything you need.
The sound quality is surprisingly good both at low and high volume.
My iphone sits on it quite happily with the unit switched off but it still charges the phone.
I would have liked some sort of cover to put over the docking port to keep it dust free.
It could also do with a little bracket type pocket on the rear to keep the remote safe when not in use.
I would say that it is suited to someone like myself, an older iphone user who wanted something small and unobtrusive rather than a large boombox affair with mega speakers.
However as it can also be used with batteries which makes it portable it would also suit younger users for this purpose as it is small enough to sit in a bag or rucksack and be carried around.
I have recently purchased my first home and after moving out I realised I no longer had access to a stereo that I could connect my iPod with. I found this iPod dock and liked the look of it and the fact that it was quite small meant I could put it in a cupboard when I wasn't using it.
+++What does the dock do?+++
It does exactly what it says on the tin, you can dock your iPod and play music through this small stereo system.
The audio in features also lets you connect any MP3 device using an AUX cable.
+++What devices are compatible?+++
This docking feature is compatible with the following (list taken from Amazon):
- iPod Nano 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th Generations
- iPhone 2G, 3G, 4, 4S
- iPod Touch 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Generation and all Classics
- When using the Official Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter it is fully compatible with iPhone 5, Nano 7G and Touch 5G.
As you can see, if you have an Apple device it is compatible! If you don't have the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter, you can purchase an AUX cable (for pennies) and still use the dock.
I paid £21.99 from Amazon in July 2013. For the price I wasn't expecting much, how wrong I was! The sound quality is great unless turned up really loud, something that I don't do and I can listen to my music clearly throughout my home.
+++Why this model?+++
I had a quick look on Amazon and this model popped up. Due to the price and the high reviews I gave it a chance and I haven't been disappointed.
The main selling point was the fact that I could use an AUX cable but being able to dock both my iPhone 5 and Classic iPod is fantastic.
When my dock came I noticed the packaging was very high quality, and gave an insight into the fact that this is a great product for a cheap price!
The unit looks great and stylish! The fact that it is quite small is an added benefit because I can pack it up and put it away after I use it.
Another massive benefit is the fact you can use the device with batteries so if you are travelling, you can use the dock without a mains connection.
To navigate through your songs you can use either the controls on the dock or on your device. However if your device is connected through an AUX cable, you need to use your device.
To purchase such a resilient product for just £21.99, I am utterly impressed and will recommend this to friends and family.
If space is an issue and you need a simple to use stereo system, choose this and you won't be disappointed!
For my birthday this year my sister asked could she have a look at my amazon wish list as she was down in Nottingham at Uni and was typically last minute in sorting things out. I, of course, let her look at my wish list but had no idea what she was ordering for me and she told me to just wait and see what the postman would bring. The first item that arrived was the azatom street dance mini home speaker system and I was absolutely delighted to receive it.
==What is it?==
I had never heard of the Azatom brand before but when I was looking for a home speaker system for my ipod before Christmas I stumbled across this one which had good reviews and was a reasonable price to boot. I hoped that it would meet my needs and had actually hoped to receive the item as a present for Christmas so as I said earlier I was delighted to receive it for my birthday.
The speaker is available in a few colours these being black, silver, pink and blue so I am sure there would be one to suit everyone really. I asked for the black option as I figured it would fit in any room I wanted it to go and would be quite timeless really.
The product is compatible with iphones up to the 4S as far as I am aware and although the box doesn't mention the 5 it may well be compatible but just not updated on the box. For me though it was imperative that the unit was compatible with the ipod nano 5th generation which isn't one of the newer models now but was the one I own. I was finding my ipod a bit reduntant as I could play music through the speakers on my Blackberry and so my ipod was shoved in a drawer and barely used. It seemed a waste which is when I started my search for a speaker dock. This unit is actually compatible with ipod nanos, touch, classic, mini and I would advise having a quick look at the product online for specific details as there are many brands of ipod it is compatible with.
When this product arrived I was really eager to get it open and have a look at it. The street dance mini comes in a good quality thick cardboard box which shows a picture of the unit on the front and also gives information about the product as well. Me being me though just wanted to get in to the box and have a look at the actual unit! When I opened the box I was able to remove the speaker unit as well as the plug to pop it on to the mains. There is an instruction leaflet included in the box but I didn't need this.
Immediately I was impressed by the look of this unit. It was a nice compact size and sleek in design with a mainly black plastic but which also had some silver around the place you pop your ipod or iphone and the edges of the speaker. I wondered if the size of the unit would mean that it wasn't a very powerful portable speaker but I couldn't wait to try it and find out!
Now personally I tend to keep this unit on top of my microwave in my kitchen and so I have it plugged in to the mains via the plug provided. The length of the cable isn't massive but it is enough for where I want it to go. This unit can be portable should you want it to be though and you just need to insert four AA batteries which aren't provided should you wish to use it in this way. I find that the small design is really easy to move around if I really need to and I sometimes take it upstairs and plug it in up there for when I am having a bath and want some music on but for the most part it stays on top of the microwave. It looks nice when it is plugged in too as when it is on there is a glowing blue light comes from the unit which I think looks cool. It does have an on off button though for preserving energy!
This speaker unit has a 12 watt power output and I suppose to some people that will make sense. To me who is totally clueless about a lot of things it means nothing and the only way I was going to find out how good this portable speaker was would be to try it out. Slotting my ipod on to the unit was really easy and once it is on there there is no need to remove it unless you are wanting to sync it with new songs because this speaker also acts as a charging unit when the unit is on and this has been as beneficial for me as the actual speaker itself!
Basically you need to press play on your ipod and then the music will play out of the speakers. To the left and right of the place to pop your ipod there are silver buttons one of which has a plus sign and one which has a minus sign and this is for adjusting the volume of the music. The buttons are really responsive and I have had no issues with them at all. Frankly I have to say I am amazed at how much power this small speaker has and I can put my ipod on and turn it up and literally hear it in every room of the house if I wanted which makes it perfect for parties and such like! I am a girl who likes her music loud when I am cleaning and things and this speaker meets all of my needs. When the weather is good I can either open my window or door and listen to music outside or I will add batteries and take it outside with me. The quality of the sound even when on very loud is excellent and not tinny or crackly as you may possibly expect from a portable speaker. I actually called my sister on my birthday to demonstrate how good the speakers where and she couldn't believe it. It is head and shoulders above the quality and sound of the speakers I have on my PC which was where I used to play my music from.
This speaker has been such a brilliant gift to receive. It was literally a case of plug it in and add my ipod and then I could have music playing from it whenever I wanted. I love that I can leave my ipod in the unit charging and so whenever I want to hit play it will be ready to go. I will often have this playing music at various points of the day either first thing when I am pottering around making my son breakfast or later on in the day when I am cleaning for example. As I mentioned this would be great when you were having a get together but I would have to make some playlists as currently I just have mine on random shuffle of all music and knowing my luck in the middle of some really current tracks let's get it on would come on or something!
The only thing that would enhance this particular model for me would be perhaps to have a small remote control but this isn't a massive deal as like I say I like to have my music on random anyway. I do believe Azatom have models that do include remotes should you be interested.
This particular model is selling for £24.99 currently on amazon. I know my sister got it for £19.99 back at the start of April and I think this is an amazing price for a sleek looking, high performing portable speaker for your ipod. As a basic range product I am more than happy with this and would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a portable home speaker as it as far surpassed my expectations.
Thank you for reading my review!
