I love Bose products. They aren't always the flashiest looking speakers but what they might lack in looks they more than make up for in pure quality and class.
The mini Soundlink speakers more than live up to Bose's heritage of quality speakers. As with all Bose products these aren't cheap speakers and they sell for 169.99 in the shops and there are never very many discounts available which is a testament to how desirable Bose products actually are.
I picked mine up on eBay where I still paid quite a bit more than I ideally would have liked but they were brand new and still a little bit cheaper than they are in the shops so I was happy with them and besides they were a treat for me for getting a promotion at work.
I like the practicality of these speakers as they are fully portable but don't make the mistake of thinking that they are super mini because they are still a lot bigger than a lot of other so called mini speakers so they feel more solid and less breakable when using them on the go. They are certainly a lot more portable than most Bose speakers however and the compromise in size means that these give a lot of full sized speakers a run for their money in both the loudness and more importantly the sound quality stakes.
First of all the craftsmanship of the speakers is first rate. They feel absolutely solid and have a decent weight to them even though they are ?mini'. There is absolutely nothing even remotely cheap feeling about these speakers and even just from holding them in your hands you can feel that they are well made and of good quality. It is made of metal so there isn't that cheap hollow plastic feel that you can get with a lot of other cheap speakers which of course is something that you expect when purchasing something from Bose.
Setting the speaker up for use is simple and only takes a couple of minutes. They work by Bluetooth and the whole process of connecting the speaker to your music device is straight forward and fast. I bought this to pair it with my phone and it connects every time and there has never been a problem with using it so far.
The sound quality with this speaker is absolutely fantastic. It has loads of technological features on the inside but all you have to know is that music comes out of the speaker clear and loud and it really enhances music rather than just making it louder. I love the fact that I can use this anywhere for great sound but if I want to improve the volume and fill a room up I just need to place the speaker in a corner and it bounces off the wall and fills an entire room which is something I didn't expect with a speaker of this size.
The Bose Sound Link mini is a really cool little piece of kit and a really great way of listening to music. So, what exactly is the Bose sound link mini? Well, it's basically a speaker with bluetooth capabilities so you can listen to your music from various devices wherever you are. According to an article I read, "Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short-wavelength radio transmissions in the ISM band from 2400-2480 MHz) from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs) with high levels of security. Created by telecom vendor Ericsson in 1994, it was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization."
The Bose is fairly small and I would say is about the size of a brick but of course not as heavy! In fact this is quite light and easy to transport as that is the main point about it, to be able to listen to your music on a speaker on the go. In fact, according to an article I read, "It weighs in at just 0.67 kg. Its low profile lets you place it almost anywhere and provides a low centre of gravity that makes it nearly impossible to tip over." We recently took ours on holiday with us and it was great because we could still have our favourite music, including some of the kids songs that we had put on our iPhone and we didn't have to worry on holiday that they didn't have the radio station we liked.
The Bose Sound Link mini is really easy to activate as it connects wirelessly to your smartphone and as both my husband and I have an iPhone with music on it, it's great for us to be able to use easily. The sound link mini it remembers the most recent six devices you've used so as we've only used two on it its really simple to connect time and time again.
The thing I really like about it is that it is simple to operate too and you don't need lots of fancy buttons and tuning devices to get it working. There are just 6 simple buttons on the top of the machine. There is the on button which when you press it shows up with a little green light to show you how much battery power you have. Then there is a mute button, plus or minus buttons for the volume, the bluetooth button and the AUX button, it's a simple as that. The buttons actually sit flush against the machine so you press them in to operate them and you can feel it being pressed so you know you have done it properly.
The machine sits in a little cradle which plugs into the wall and allows it to charge up although you can listen to it away from the wires which is nice. According to the information I read on the product, "The rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers up to seven hours of playtime. And at home, you can listen even longer as the charging cradle lets you listen while it charges and an empty battery usually fully recharges in three hours."
At the front is where the speaker section is so the sound comes out of the front of the machine meaning it gets a good projection in my opinion. The speaker has a range of about 9 m, so you can enjoy the sound you want without wires if you wish.
The speaker is priced at about £150 and I am really enjoying the sound quality we are getting from it. It comes out quite loud if you wish but you can turn it down and it's still as crisp as if you had it high. It's a great way to listen to music in my opinion and a little gadget I definitely recommend.
