Advantages: Great sound, great build quality, easy to set up, look great.

Disadvantages: None

Being a music producer, I have to may attention to a lot of detail, and especially of that when it comes to audio and soundscaping. I took 12 months or so looking around and testing out home theatres. My first bit of advice is to find a proper audio shop that has a room that's a similar size you the room that you're intending on setting these speakers up in. Don't bother going to Currys or PCworld etc as they will plonk you in the middle of the floor on a sofa and hope that you can pick out the good sound details whilst watching a movie.

I was adviced that Kef were the leading makers of home cinema systems, so I directed my attention to this set and had it demo'ed for me in a local shop. I was sold from the first minute I'd heard them. They are quite costly but worth every penny if you spend your Saturday nights in watching Blu-rays. I then had to make a decision about what amp to buy, I decided upon pairing them with a Denon amp which is another story for a different review.

This egg shaped lovelies are ferrofluid colled (whatever that means) all come wrapped in little cloth sacs, nice to see that they have payed attention to details here. The construction of each speaker is solid and you can see that they are of a high standard, they are quite weighty. Wireing them up once you have them in position is dead easy. We placed ours on our back wall and chased the wires into the wall and ran the cables under the subfloor. Each egg speaker comes with it's own mount, apart from the center and bass speakers. Bass speaker now sits behind the TV, 2 eggs are to the left and right of the TV and the center egg is bang in the middle under the TV. We purchased the silver KEF stands for the front left and right eggs, the stands were expensive and the paint quality was really bad, one scratch and the paint came offm so disappointed with them for £140.

Once all of the speakers were hooked up to the amp, we were ready to rock and roll. I could list all the technical spec but it wont mean much to most people ready this review. But in a nutshell the frequency range was acceptional and were very loud without distorting. It takes a good hour or two to customise them to your specific room, as you really need to thing about the angled and placement of them Bass speaker was exceptional although the build quality wasn't as good as the eggs in my opinion. You can even hear a pin drop if one drops in a film. We also have many settings on our amp just to complicate things further.

I purchased these speakers from Play.com for £699
