Konig 2.0 Speaker Set
Advantages: Cheap yet good quality and reliable.
Now Konig wasn't a brand I'd ever come across but they did seem to be the cheapest speakers on offer that had a decent write up so I decided to give them a go... after all, all brands have to start somewhere. Konig manufactures and sells competitively priced consumer electronic which have the aim of making your life easier and more comfortable. The brand's website suggests it's quite successful in many countries both within and outside of Europe but it doesn't appear to be widely stocked in the UK except on web stores. They offer a range of electronic products including audio, camera, computer, gaming, security and television products to name just some of their range. I managed to get hold of the speakers through Amazon and there are other online stores available which do stock the Konig products.
The speakers have plastic bases and backs and are black in colour, while the actual speaker part is grey in colour. Overall they don't feel the most sturdy and nor do they look the most expensive; however they don't appear to be overly cheap which would be implied by their price. Each speaker is 7cm in width, 20cm in height and 7cm in diameter so they are quite small but this does mean they're easy to store and also easy to travel with if need be too. The speakers are really light, their boxed weight is advertised as being 699g so each individual speaker is probably just under 300g which makes them very light indeed - again this means they're ideal if you want to carry them around in your bag all day or anything.
The speakers were incredibly easy to set up and use, the whole process took me a couple of minutes with the majority of my time being spent getting them out of the box! The control panel on the speakers is incredibly basic which means they are very simple to use indeed as it just features a power button and a volume button. The on off switch is a simple push in, push back button which is so simple to operate while the volume is controlled by a rotary switch that you turn for volume. The sound quality is really good considering the price, it's very clear and there's no distortion evident at all. The volume range is excellent too and even when the volume is turned up high there's still no distortion to the sound at all.
The technical information includes the fact that the frequency response is 100 Hz to 20 K Hz (which might as well be written in Japanese for what it means to me)! The connection that comes with them is a 3.5mm stereo jack lead input which is also suitable for direct connection to an ipod, MP3 player, laptop or computer. They also have a standard three pin mains electric plug as well which is where their power comes from. The only downside is that the wires aren't overly long and the speakers can only be around three feet apart from each other which isn't ideal if you want the sound to spread around a room more. The actual power cable isn't too bad and I can deal with that but it would be nice to spread the speakers.
They're advertised as being ideal for computer users but also suitable to use with an MP3 player or other audio devices. I've had these for a couple of weeks now and I can honestly say I've had absolutely no problems with them - the sound quality is crisp and clear, the volume control is easy to use and the speakers themselves look good enough! There really is no way I can fault them in terms of functionality or performance. I paid £8.55 for my speakers and they were bought through the Amazon Market Place. I haven't been able to find them cheaper elsewhere and, quite frankly, I think this is a really good price. I've been using them with my ipod and with my laptop, they work perfectly fine with either and I had no problems getting my ipod of play through them. All in all, the full five stars for Konig!
Thanks for reading.
