Advantages: Sound, connectivity, looks
Disadvantages: Mine developed a fault, but this was fixed
The KRK Rokit range of studio monitors are a perfect entry-level nearfield monitor for any home or project studio owner. In terms of value-for-money they aren't even beaten by the cheap Behringer offerings, yet they probably offer much better build quality and reliability!
Before choosing mine I auditioned a range of monitors in a good listening environment, including some that cost over double of what the Rokits did, however I came away with the KRKs and haven't regretted that decision. They have a clear, uncoloured mid and high end and strong bass reproduction for a speaker of their size.
The 6" version is just about right for most size rooms / home-studios... I would recommend only going for the 8" version if you have a much larger room or a good amount of broadband acoustic treatment to prevent problems in the low end.
One of my monitors developed a fault with the tweeter amp but it was promptly replaced under warranty with no fuss.
Summary: Highly recommended entry-level monitors
