Wow what a piece of equipment!!

The Mordaunt Short 308 subwoofer is a serious bit of kit for anyone with a home cinema/surround sound on their television. After looking into all the various options to go with my home cinema setup I decided to bit the bullet and purchase this subwoofer after a recommendation, and reading the high reviews it attained in a magazine.

The subwoofer is relatively big, but somehow seems to blend in with my lounge and is almost like a stealth box. many a time I have used it as a table not realising what it is. There are large spike feet on the bottom of the subwoofer to stop it moving about when delivering the bass as its speaker is mounted facing the floor.

The speaker is magnetically shielded, and uses an inbuilt 80 watt amplifier to deliver large pressure changes which humans pick up on as bass. The bass coverage is very good through all the frequencies this subwoofer works on (35hz-140hz), and can be compared to units costing several hundred pounds.

I agree that no-one can get excited about the design of this subwoofer as its basically a grey wooden box with a hole in it, but its designed in such a way that it doesn't draw attention to itself, and just sits about doing its job perfectly.

Well worth the cost if you are into your home cinema and deep bass.

Summary: any home cinema would benefit from this subwoofer.
