Advantages: Good all rounders
Disadvantages: Not so good at higher frequencies
I have owned some peavey hisys 2xt speakers for about 6yrs and have used them both at home for personal use and also for performance out in public to both large and small audiences connected to my keyboard. I am therefore in a position to comment on their sound quality, durability and around usefulness.
The pros of these speakers are that they feature 'speak on' connectors at the rear that makes them very easy to connect to a mixer/ amplifier without the cables coming out. They look smart and feature strong front mesh grills that can withstand knocks and bumps whilst they are being transported. The sound quality overall is good. They are particularly good at the reproduction of lower bass notes and offer a good all round frequency output. Despite being bulky they have two handles on either side to aid carrying/ lifting them. Despite having several pints of beer being spilt over them during the years they are still as good as new.
The cons of these speakers are the higher frequency output that is average but could be better. The horns in these speakers are adequate but I have heard speakers of a similar price have more clarity. This is particularly heard if performing using higher pitched instruments such as a flute. They can be bulky and these two speakers alone are large enough to take up the boot space of an average family saloon car.
Overall, I would recommend these speakers for discos and clubs which are wanting bass as they feature 15' subs as opposed to 12' ones which miss half of the low range frequencies. You get what you pay for and there are better speakers out there but they are well worth the money and will always sell on second hand for a reasonable price.
Summary: Well worth a look....
