Experience the dramatic bass and tingling highs of the high-performance SS-F6000 floor-standing speakers. Crafted to bring massive audio power to your home, these speakers make a statement. You and your guests will appreciate their impeccable high resolution sound reproduction and the deep, hard-hitting bass.
The SS-F6000 features amazingly detailed sound reproduction, with a upper frequency response level 50kHz nearly twice that of conventional floorstanding speakers--to deliver high resolution audio from sources such as Super Audio CDs (SACD) and FLAC digital audio files.
This high-performance configuration features a 6.5" Mica-reinforced woofer and a 1" Nano Fine balanced dome tweeter, balanced by a 3.25" enhanced H.O.P. cone mid driver and a 6.5" enhanced H.O.P. cone mid woofer. 180W of maximum input power makes the SS-F6000 ideal for high-performance stereo applications, as well as functioning as powerful front channels for your surround sound home theatre system.
The 6.5" bass drivers and 3.25" midrange drivers in these speakers feature improved H.O.P. cones to bring you overall sound improvement. H.O.P. stands for Sony's exclusive Highly Oriented Polyolefine, which is a speaker cone material of extraordinary strength. It's up to 30 times more rigid, per unit weight, than polypropylene. This material delivers sound with lower distortion and extraordinary transient response when compared to more traditional materials.
Of course the woofers and midrange drivers aren't the only parts of these speakers to get special attention. The tweeters were built with their own Nano Fine technology to improve sound delivery. Conventional material suffers from high internal loss and low resistance to both heat and humidity. The Nano-Fine material gives you much lower internal loss, and high resistance to both heat and humidity. The result is crisper sound at the high end, adding to your overall sound experience.
Having a small home music studio I need a good range of speakers and monitors to listen to various mixes through. I didn't want anything massively expensive as I have a good set of monitors for mixing. So after reading many reviews I found the Sony SSF-6000.
Black floor standing speakers, 180 watt output , size = (H) 950mm (W) 215 mm (D) 260mm, four way bass reflex speakers accompanied by 2.5cm nano tweeters that expands high end frequencies , 8cm Kevla hop for mid bass this is to increase sound quality and delivery of power and 16cm mica reinforced cellular woofer for the banging bass sounds. All are magnetically shielded which means if they are next to a visual appliance i.e. TV or monitor the speakers wont create any interference or impair viewing quality. As standard they come with a 1 year manufacturers guarantee.
They arrived on my doorstep in excellent packaging, defo a two man job in lifting these things. I simply connected the speakers up to my amp via phono cables. Don't be disheartened if they sound rather unbalance at first, be patient as they'll take a while to bed in after they start to vibrate for a few hours. They look very sleek but the quality of the speak grilles are a lot to be desired for. I'm always conscious of my kids poking them, although thankfully none of the grills have broken as yet. As with most speakers they take maybe a week or so to bed in. By that I mean sound detail especially the bass frequency to break in. Mid range is ok but is lacking in sound detail. Both speakers are running through a Denon amp and you can play anything from classical to heavy rock if you have the amp set up correctly. Everything sounds pretty colourful and rich, tones are simply vibrant for speakers of this price. I also use these speakers for parties, although they are too heavy for me to keep lugging about up and down stairs, but they really do the job well
They are fantastic value for money and look great either side of my mixing console. But don't expect amazing sound detail from these beasts. However you can't go wrong with these little giants, but they are not high end products. Highly recommended for listening to your everyday music on, but not so good for mixing tracks or watching TV through as bass is over powering. I've had mine for some 6 years now and they have served me well and have never let me down.

My husband and I have slowly been putting together a separate Sony hifi system and started by buying a Sony TA-940R Amplifier. The speakers in the system then became my weak link so
my husband decided that for his birthday last year he wanted a new pair of speakers. The set he fell in love with was the SS-x90ED Sony speakers but they were well out of our price range so we both agreed that the SS-F6000 would be best suited.
The first thing we noticed when they arrived was the sheer size of the box (standing nearly as tall as my five year old daughter) and they were packaged very well. Next was to test them out. They came supplied with very thin speaker wire but we used our own thicker much better grade speaker cable. The difference in quality and sound stage is immense compared to the bookshelf speakers we we originally using. The bass has improved greatly, they mid range is mellow and the highs come through clear. Also due to the greater efficiency the amplifier needs to be turned up a lot less to get the same volume.
We listen to a great range of music all the way through from dance to classical and they handle it all well, and when in the mood, turned up they absolutely pound the house but equally hold their own when at low volume. Piano and saxophone are reproduced well although my husband thinks that on some harder hitting music he can hear baffle noise.
In a nutshell for the price, we think it would be hard to beat these speakers for anything in the same price range.
