My husband and I have slowly been putting together a separate Sony hifi system and started by buying a Sony TA-940R Amplifier. The speakers in the system then became my weak link so
my husband decided that for his birthday last year he wanted a new pair of speakers. The set he fell in love with was the SS-x90ED Sony speakers but they were well out of our price range so we both agreed that the SS-F6000 would be best suited.
The first thing we noticed when they arrived was the sheer size of the box (standing nearly as tall as my five year old daughter) and they were packaged very well. Next was to test them out. They came supplied with very thin speaker wire but we used our own thicker much better grade speaker cable. The difference in quality and sound stage is immense compared to the bookshelf speakers we we originally using. The bass has improved greatly, they mid range is mellow and the highs come through clear. Also due to the greater efficiency the amplifier needs to be turned up a lot less to get the same volume.
We listen to a great range of music all the way through from dance to classical and they handle it all well, and when in the mood, turned up they absolutely pound the house but equally hold their own when at low volume. Piano and saxophone are reproduced well although my husband thinks that on some harder hitting music he can hear baffle noise.
In a nutshell for the price, we think it would be hard to beat these speakers for anything in the same price range.
Summary: Would be hard to beat these speakers for anything in the same price range.
