Tangent Clarity Subwoofer
Advantages: Incredibly well designed, never misses a beat.
In my living room audio setup for the cd player and television I have the Tangent Clarity Subwoofer. I also have the matching Tangent Clarity 8 Speaker, but I am reviewing the subwoofer on this occassion - perhaps i will cover the speaker in a future review. Looking at the design and quality (AND price) of this subwoofer, you will be able to tell that it is a serious piece of kit. The first thing that attracts someone to a product is the looks and this badboy has plenty going for it with sleek lines and some hot colour choices! For starters, the Tangent subwoofer comes in black, white and a deep red, although I am sure there are other colours available if you look hard enough! My Tangent Clarity subwoofer is the deep red colour to match the furniture in my main room. The red subwoofer is finished to a high spec, with a high gloss finish and a low resonance enclosure. The surround of the subwoofer is a brushed metal plate which compliments the high gloss finish and harshness the shape of the subwoofer gives.
The Tangent Clarity range is designed and manufactured in Denmark, and no expense has been spared as you can feel the quality of the product, and your ears give away the quality of the sound instantly. The sound emmitted can be described as refined, and the playful quality of the treble and low end resonates well in your desired space.
The big selling point for me was the fact that although the speakers and subwoofer can be purchased seperately, they also work very well together - they were made for each other. Initially, i just purchased the subwoofer and added the speakers later, but the subwoofer integrates very well into other speaker preferences. Personally I decided to go for the speakers due to the way in which the subwoofer impressed me. The design is delicious, and at around £400 it stands up very well to similarly priced subwoofers around. Tangent may not be at the top of your list of manufacturers when it comes to putting a system together, but this subwoofer is proof that they are serious contenders for your cash in this price bracket, and what better way to splash the cash than with a matching set of speakers to compliment your subwoofer? There is nothing better than breaking the mould of choosing the mainstream brands when it comes to audio, but on very few occassions is it a worthwhile venture, this time it is worth taking the leap.
Summary: If this is within your price bracket it must be a serious contender for your cash.
