Small speakers / subwoofer with a large sound which is convenient for any home cinema system.

This home cinema speaker system was purchased along with a separate AV receiver. I had researched various models and specs and these seemed best for the price. Tannoy are a speaker company that have been around for decades and have produces quality speakers for both home audio and professional audio.

The subwoofer frequency range goes from 45Hz to 140Hz whilst the satellites go from 140Hz-78kHz. The subwoofer going to as low as 45 Hz is more than enough for boomy explosions and punchy sound effects. The satalites going up to 75KHz enables this speaker system to sound as smooth as possible with the best quality. The speakers themselves are small but pack a lot of sound considering the sound. They can be wall mounted which can be convenient for room placement, the packages comes with speaker cable and wall mount brackets.

The subwoofer has an adjustable volume knob which is convenient for setting it up and won't be altered throughout the usage of the system. I have had these for a few years and they are amazing for the price. I would thoroughly recommend this sytem, I would advise you find these quick as they are now discontinued but still available.

Great set of speakers for a mid-range AV amp

I bought these speakers from Richer Sounds for a shade under £200. The speakers came well packaged in a substantial box and came complete with some speaker cable and wall brackets. The speakers themselves are well constructed and are of a hefty weight. They are finished in a high gloss silver paint and whilst they maybe aren't the most contemporary design, they are fairly small and unobtrusive. The only criticism I have is that the binding posts on the rear are a little fiddly for those with bigger fingers.

Although I didn't use the speaker cable supplied, it was of a better quality than that normally supplied with a speaker set. You would be well advised to buy yourself some decent speaker wire, especially if you are spending £200 on speakers!

Once connected, the speakers really impressed. The woofer has good response and gives great, room filling bass notes. The centre speaker is a little larger than the others and dialogue comes across as crisp and precise without being tinny. The surround speakers equally perform well and round out the sound nicely.

I had wondered whether I would notice the difference between the cheap set of speakers I originally had and these and I can say that my money was well spent.
