Technika 2.0 Stereo Speakers
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use with good sound quality
After a recent terrible computer virus our internal pc speakers just decided to stop working. We tried everything to get them going again but to no avail. As my husband is a You Tube fanatic and missed browsing through and listening to many clips I decided to treat him to a new set of external speakers. Not really wanting to spend too much on them but obviously wanting to get quality worth buying, after much research I decided to go for the Technika 2.0 Stereo Speakers at £9.97 from Tesco.
The speakers came well packaged in a cardboard box along with the 3.5mm jack with lead and the power supply lead and a small instructions leaflet. They were easily unwrapped and equally easy to set up and install.
These speakers are quite tall, slim and attractive and actually look really good standing proudly at either side of our monitor. Each speaker measures approximately 24.5cm in height, 18.5cm in width and 9cm in depth, although fairly tall they are pretty compact and don't take up much room on the desk. The speakers are matt black and slope back slightly giving them quite an elegant, stylish look.
The speakers come with a 3.5mm jack, which can easily be plugged into the back of your pc. They are plug and play and are very easy to install. Once you plug the speakers in you are prompted to accept the new hardware and off you go.
One of the speakers, in my case the right hand one, has a small on/off power button on the side along with a volume control dial, a tuner control dial and a small blue power on light. The speakers give 9w of sound, which I thought was quite respectable for small plug in speakers. Being multimedia speakers means that not only can you use them for your computer but you can also use them for portable devices as well. We have tried out my son's Ipod Touch use these speakers as well and they worked really well.
Overall I would definitely recommend these speakers. They were easy to set up and look really good. The sound quality is brilliant, my husband even tested them at full volume (much to my dismay) and even then there was very little distortion. They have a good deep sound quality to them with no tinny sound quality at all, all too often small plug in speakers can give quite a tinny sound, but these definitely do not. I like the fact that there is a sound control on the speakers themselves, making it much easier to control the volume, rather than having to use the controls on the computer. I also liked the fact that there was just the right amount of cable. Previous speakers we have had seemed to come with way too much cable, causing an untidy tangled mess, but these ones did have plenty cable, but it was easy to neatly hide the excess cable. Of course I can't forget to mention the super price tag too, £9.97 from Tesco, a super buy, easy to use, look good and give super sound quality. Well done Tesco!
Summary: Well worth checking out.
