Advantages: A really nice black and silver design, free standing monitor speakers and only £10 a pair with wires
Disadvantages: None
The Technika 2 speakers are a powerful and attractive add-on for anyone who's after a bit more volume with their laptop, pc, ipod or even so you can hear the soaps a bit more clearly on your tv!
As a DJ im used to music been played at ridiculously loud volumes so my perception of what loud music actually is may vary some what to what someone else may think! Anyway to cut a long story short I purchased a pair of these speakers a couple of months back costing around £10 It wouldn't have even been worth returning them even if they didn't work at all because of them been so cheap..
The first reason I purchased these were the design, they go perfectly with my packard bell lj71 laptop which also comes in a sleek black and silver finish so straight away it was like the perfect match and then not really needing much persuasion to part with my £10 note I soon became another satisfied customer!
The Technika 2 speakers run of a 14v power adapter and includes a 3.5mm stereo headphone cable which easily connects the speakers between any standard headphone output. There is also a connection between to the two speakers so you can decide whether you want one or both plugged in. There is also a tone control on the side of the main speaker which controls the level of bass or vocal which you hear on the output, along with this there is a volume control on the unit which drastically increases the output and saves the hassle of having to resort to your media device to turn it up or down.
The speakers are black and thin and stand up without problems, my only problem is they sometimes seem to get in the way and because they are so lightweight it only takes a slight knock and there on the floor and again dispite the numerous clashes with my tile floor they still perform as well as they did when first purchased.
I have used these speakers on a day to day basis and by just having the volume halfway up it can be heard all around my house, they have also performed really well for small house party's and general monitoring when DJ'ing. These are by no means on the scale of reputable branded speakers on a higher price margin however for the price you pay and the long lasting performance that they deliver there really is nothing but value for money and customer satisfaction!
Having played almost every genre of music through these speakers there doesn't seem to be any restriction for how far the capability actually goes, however the speaker cones themselves aren't too big so there's always the question of asking what are we really expecting? The top hats and vocals are very crisp and clear however does muffle when they are used on a full volume, they do deliver a good degree of bass however the tone control needs to be adjusted acurately to receive the best output!
So there you have it, a pair of attractive speakers which fit nicely in to a laptop bag which deliver a good volume and quality of sound along with a nice price tag. Tempted yet?
Summary: Money well spent, a big mood changer on a dull and rainy day!
