Thumbs Up iBlock Speaker for iPod
Advantages: Great performance, cool and compact design
Disadvantages: Not that I can think of
I love music just like any other teenagers. Accompanying my hobby is my desire to buy any novelty speakers for iPods and iPhones available on the market. I was so excited when I saw these speakers. Since I don't travel much, I only use speakers in my room but speakers are handy when I want to move about in my room and don't want to be restrict.
The child in me was ecstatic when I saw these speakers on amazon. They're designed to look like Lego blocks and comes in a variety of colours: they're available in red, black and white on amazon.co.uk. Since red is my favourite colour, I decided to get them in red. It costs me £8.00 plus shipping, which I think is a very good price for cool looking speakers.
The functionality is pretty cool as well. It has two speakers on either side of the lego block and the two middle, bottom buttons are for controlling volume. The speaker itself is small and travel-sized, which is good for carrying it around places even in my house when going upstairs and downstairs. The weight of the speakers come in a little over 10 grams, which is very light and convenient. The size of the speaker is 2.9 x 5.2 x 3.9 cm so just about the width of a iPod touch.
One advantage of these speakers is that no battery is required. Less hassle when it comes to using the product. It has a docking connector just like the charger connector for iPod touches and the speakers uses the energy/power stored in your music devices to function. From my experience, the power usage isn't as bad as I though it be. With my iPod fully charged, I can easily play music out loud with these speakers for about 3 hours. However, as I tend to charge my ipods and phones frequently, I don't really have an issue with the lack of battery system for these speakers. In fact, I think it's a good thing and make it really light-weight for travels and such.
It has an active bass system and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of these speakers when I first played music using this product. The volume is loud enough to be heard in an environment with medium background noise (e.g. small classroom) for good enough for small parties and such. The clearity is pretty good for the low price tag of this product as well.
As for the compatibility, it is not compatible with iPhone as advertised on the website, which I thought is a shame. Nevertheless, for what it's worth, it does the job really well. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and glad to own this as part of my novelty speakers collection. However, my purse has to suffer for my collection.
Thank you for reading. :) x
