I was wandering around my local asda the other week and as its spring i tend to eat alot of salad type things. I came across asda smartprice potato salad and was amazed at how cheap it was at 28 pence i just couldnt walk past it, i had to give it a whirl !!!!.

As with all smart price products it comes in the usual no frills packaging that you expect from this line of food with the green and white asda smart price label with basic information about the product inside. I was really surprised while standing in asda looking at the product just how much of it you get in that little pot for the price, And although you can see the cubes of potato are not the biggest lumps in the world it does look very generous.

That evening i whacked a pizza in the oven and set about to prep my salad and reached for the potato salad. on opening i realised that this wasnt going to be the tastiest potato salad in the world as there wasnt actually a smell to it no chive smell or anything really but i solidered on and put a pile on my plate.

The taste test: To be fair you cant expect the world for twenty eight pence. but i didnt feel robbed. the mayo was nice and creamy, the potatoes if im to be picky were a little harder than the more expensive brands and were on the small side but there was plenty of it. and the potatoes wasnt that hard that it ruined anything.
would i buy it again ? absolutely i would what a deal that potato salad was, yeah the potato could have been bigger, yeah they skimped on the chives but it was edible and i actually really enjoyed it, well done Mr Asda you come up trumps with this one. i also brought the smartprice coleslaw which i will be reviewing at a later date when i have cracked it open. i just hope it follows in the footsteps of its cousin the mighty smartprice potato salad :D
