Advantages: Cheap to buy, look nice and colourful enough

Disadvantages: Goes a bit too mushy for me and with not alot of flavour

The one thing I do like to keep in my freezer is frozen vegetables. In fact I have two freezers in my flat and one is just for vegetables actually as I do love my veg and quite often I buy fresh and end up not using it and kicking it out so this kind of thing I find very useful to keep in and make myself more healthy meals with.

The Packaging:

This comes in a distinctive bright green and white plastic bag with a photograph of the mixed vegetables on the front of it and of course we are told what they are and who they are by then on the back of the bag other information listed includes being told how to cook them, the ingredients and nutritional information is given, the size is stated which is 1kg and contact details for Asda are given. Cheap looking bag this is and the bag is not resealable.

The Vegetables:

What you get in a bag is Diced Carrots (55%) , Peas (21%) , Cauliflower Florets (20%) and Broccoli Florets (4.0%) so all you get is the vegetables and you are meant to cook these from frozen. To cook them you can simmer then in a saucepan, microwave or add them to dishes such as casseroles and stews and so on and an 80g serving of these count as one of your five recommended servings of fruit/vegetables a day.

I personally simmer mine for about 4 minutes with a little salt as I find these vegetables a little bland otherwise and they are only so so for me and not all that tasty to be honest.

The cauliflower and broccoli florets are really small but look like they are meant to, the diced carrrots and peas are ok and look like they should too but like I have said I find thema bit bland on the whole and that the broccoli and cauliflower do go too mushy for my liking. I haven't microwaved them for fear they would go completely to mush to be honest and as I am not all that impressed with the flavour of them I haven't added them to stews and things and stuck to using good quality fresh vegetables.

I can't say I'm enthralled by these and when I have worked through my bag of these I will not be buying them again and would rather pay more for better quality in the future!

An 80g boiled serving gives you just 50kcal and 0.5g of fat and 1kg bag costs just 75p so if you do like them they are fabulous value...just not for me!

Only available from Asda and from Asda.com

Summary: Won't be buying them again!
