Branston Baked Beans
Advantages: Really tasty; excellent sauce.
I wonder how many people still enjoy baked beans? I know that I do... but I don't have them as often as what I used to. Whilst Baked beans implies that the bans are baked... in fact they are usually 'stewed in a sauce' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baked_beans) ,. Baked beans are basically Haricot beans.
At one time my favourite brand was Heinz baked beans . I have tried all sorts, even the value ones!! However, I would never buy value ones again... they are too watery and the beans are hard... you may save some money buying them but in my view they are a bit nasty. I think its only been a few years that I have been eating these lovely Branston Baked beans. Now, whilst not really being a fan of their pickle I really am a fan of their baked beans and I particularly love the sauce. It is a darker colour than many other baked bean sauces. It is quite thick, rich and tomatoey. The baked beans themselves are very good; not hard or anything; just right. These baked beans are no my favourite and I have yet to find any other brand that I prefer. These Branston baked beans can usually be found at Iceland. They only cost a £1.00 for 4 x 410g cans. I think this is amazing value; particularly for such an excellent quality product. However currently a 4 pack is available at Tesco on a BOGOFF offer for £1.57 for a total of 8 cans!
There are only certain ways in which I usually have baked beans; either on toast (sometimes with fried egg); with a fried breakfast or with sausages and I always put plenty of brown sauce on them. that's just my own preference. I have occasionally had them cold with a salad too. Unfortunately my children wont eat them any more.... I think they have been listening to too many stories about baked beans giving you wind!
Its funny because I don't really like other types of beans such as broad beans or Red kidney beans. just the baked bean. However if I were to eat the beans on their own with no sauce and flavouring I probably wouldn't like these beans either!
Baked beans are easy to heat up and can also be microwaved. If you do microwave them... I highly recommend covering the beans... or else the tomato sauce goes all over the place and you will have a lot of cleaning up to do afterwards if you don't!

Baked beans are a good and overall healthy food; and these ones taste great. I think they fully deserves a 5 star rating.
