Advantages: Nice enough
Disadvantages: Not nice enough to me!
I am pretty funny about baked beans. Sometimes I really fancy them othertimes I purely hate them. My favourite brand is Heinz, the brand I was brought up with but they are little on the pricey side so the other day when I spotted these Branston ones in Tescos costing only 50p for a can containing 410g of the product I thought that was pretty good value for my money and of course I have heard of the Branston brand!
These come in a mainly black labelled can wih a ringpull to the top of it and on the front of it there is a photograph of the baked beans and we are told of course what they are and who they are by and so on. On the back of the can other information listed includes ingredients and allery advice, a full nutritional chart and contact details for the manufacturer etc. Nice enough looking, smart can this is and of course it is informative enough too.
Well of course they are haricot beans in a thin and orange coloured sauce which at first I thought was a rather thin sauce. You can heat them in a saucepan or microwave them thats up to you, either way it only takes a couple of minutes to do so and the sauce did thicken and the beans did soften without going mushy.
I have no complaints about these beans, however I still prefer Heinz and can tell the difference in taste and quality between them. I think the sauce on the Heinz one is richer, thicker and has a really nice smooth consitency but these Branston ones have a thinner less tasty sauce and its a bit on the salty side to me. Like I say though there is nothing wrong with them it all comes down to your preferred taste but me, I won't be penny pinching again and will stick to Heinz from now on!
