Green Giant Sweetcorn

Disadvantages: Just a bit more expensive than value of basic versi
I am one for saving money wherever possible but when my husband returned from the big shop with Green Giant Sweetcorn I just could not face the hassle of returning it back to the store on my next visit and decided we would just use it on this occasion.
The can contains 285 in drained weight of sweetcorn and has all the usual features you would expect of a can including a paper label showing all the ingredients & various other bits of information that the consumer has come to expect. The green man on the can is something that makes it stand out a little bit and makes me think of green giant instantly and if you have ever seen their adverts or one of the cans then you will know exactly what I mean.
The sweet corn inside the can is nice and yellow (as you'd expect) and is almost appealing to my children when on their plates. The sweet corn comes in salted water which I just drain away and then I wash the sweet corn before cooking it up. The corn is nice and crunchy and crisp and tender inside and just the right texture for little people as well as big ones. Sweetcorn is a firm favourite in my house with my son and because it's one of the vegetables he will happily eat I always try to have at least one or two nights a week where I serve it up as an accompaniment or I do cooking with some sweetcorn in so that I know it will be a guaranteed hit at the dinner table. This can contains around 3 servings of your five a day so is ideal for serving up to my three bigger children.
There are around 70 calories and just 1g of fat per 100 of sweetcorn so this is the ideal thing to throw in to a salad or have with a main meal without adding too many calories to your daily recommend amount.
There really are lots of different uses for sweetcorn and the most popular in my household is just with dinner on the side as my children will happily eat most things put in front of them so I guess I am quite lucky really. I love how easy to prepare this is as I can just open a can, rinse the contents and then it's ready to go. This is something that I buy every single week without fail and while I cannot notice much difference between this one and the usual basics or value one that I buy I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again if I saw it on special offer as it does seem to be a little more vibrant in colour and have a nice crisp yet tender taste to it that I know my children enjoy. There was no complaints when I served this up but then I doubt anyone would really notice the difference between branded and value with this unless they were avidly trying to find a difference.
The price of this product is around 75p-80p depending on which supermarket you purchase it from so it is a little more expensive than the value or basic versions available but on some of the cans you get more for your money per 100g so it's worth keeping an eye on this when doing your big shop.
Summary: A decent can of sweet cornmaking mealtimes easy for a busy mummy.
