When things get a bit tight or you are feeling really lazy there is always beans !
In our house we keep a good stock of beans in the cupboard the kids like them and my girlfriend and me like them. When we were out shopping last week we went to the canned foods and were about to pick up some beans when the kids came running towards us with a tiny little can of beans and sausages with cartoons on the cover saying they wanted them.
The tiny tin was about 70p so we compromised and bought a bigger tin of Heinz beans and sausages and we took them home and prepared a tea of beans on toast.
We cut the toast into Spiderman shapes with a toast cutter and layered them with beans and sausages, we have never seen the childrens plates be cleared so quickly !
Me and my girlfriend had our sausages on normal toast ( but I did ask if I could have spiderman toast too and I was told no ) along with the beans and sausages we put some cheese and pepper, my girlfriend also added some salad cream
Usually beans on toast is not the nicest of meals, it will do but is not overly enjoyable and we have trouble getting the kids to eat it but with the sausages I think we all enjoyed it much more.
This is not the most nutritious of foods but is not too bad - better than a plate of chips! The beans have a high salt and sugar content so we try not to eat them too often, especially for the kids. There is quite a bit of home cooking in our house so beans are usually only for when we have had a busy day or finances are a bit low. The sausages did surprise me as they had a good percentage of pork in them, it really worries me when we buy processed meats only to find the majority of it is nasty fillers and water and the like but the sausages in Heinz beans and sausages.
Heinz are a favourite in our house, we have tried to buy cheaper versions but it is not worth the little money we save because the children do not like them and my girlfriend and me do not enjoy them as much. Heinz beans and sausages has a nice thick tomatoe sauce full of flavour, it tastes quite sweet too.
This is sold in 415g tins and I pay 85p for them which makes for a cheap meal, we use 2 tins and a loaf of bread for 60p so a whole meal for less than £3.

Summary: The perfect food for a lazy day
