Advantages: Taste great
Disadvantages: Tad expensive
Heinz Baked Beans with Pork Sausages are a great accompiament to any meal. They taste great and are really filling too. I have tried many versions of beans & sausages in a tin as I have to say Heinz are the most expensive but I just have to keep coming back to this one as no other tastes the same - you really can't beat Heinz!!!
A standard 415g tin contains 8 mini pork sausages and the rest of the tin is made up of Baked Beans in their tomato sauce. You can either microwave or heat in a saucepan, though you have to cook them for longer than if you were just cooking beans or you end up with cold sausages. I tend to give them around 5 minutes in a saucepan or around 1.5 mins if microwaving & you are assured piping hot sausages.
As I said earlier they are relatively expensive in comparison to supermarkets own brands of these which do the same job. A 415g tin costs around 89p from most supermarkets & there is also a 200g tin available which costs around 57p. The smaller tin contains 4 mini pork sausages.
So, obviously it is pretty expensive for a tin of these but you just can't beat the quality of taste you get from these. The sausages are tasty and the beans are smothered in a really rich tomato sauce which you just do not get with other brands of baked beans.
Nutrition
11.0g Protein
22.0g Carbohydrates
5.6g Fibre
6.8g Fat
2.1g Salt
A mixed bag really when it comes to the nutritional info. The fact that they are high in protein and fibre is great but the fat and salt content is still a little high for my liking. They are low in sugar though.
Conclusion
I would definitely recommend these as part of a meal. Great over a jacket potato or as a side to a main meal. Kids love them & are pretty tasty for adults too. If you are considering buying some of these then I would recommend paying that bit extra & going for Heinz - the taste is far more superior to that of any other brand I have tried & with Heinz you know you are always getting good quality.
I'd give them 4/5. The star lost is for the slightly high fat/salt content.
Summary: Highly recommended.
