I love Mexican food. Mainly because I love Chilli's and a lot of !RSI an food incorporates chilli's.

I spotted these beans in our local mini supermarket and they were quite expensive at nearly a pound a tin so it wasn't till they were on offer for two tins for £1.50 that I tried them. The Dooyoo picture is a little dated as these now come in a tin with the token green Heinz coloured label, with a description of 'Heinz Beanz with the exciting taste of Mexican Spices'.

I first had these as a side to a meal and myself and my boyfriend really liked them. You can really taste the chilli but it isn't by any means too hot or overpowering, it's a lovely flavour just right. I'd actually like them to be a little hotter but I understand they are appealing to the mass market but it would be great if they did a hot version.

These beans make a great addition to a meal or can be used in a chilli con carne as suggested on the tin itself. they are lovely on top of a jacket potato with cheese!

Overall I'd really recommend these tasty beans, they are good for you fibre wise and the calories are relatively low at 164 per half a tin. They have a long shelf life and are suitable for vegetarians. They are also gluten free and half a tin counts as one of your 5 a day.
