I have always picked up McDougalls instant batter mix when ever I go shopping but I recently realised that when you still have to add an egg and water then there really isn't anything other than flour in the mix? So why do we buy them. I always thought that I was saving myself having to make a batter from scratch but there are only three ingrediants to a batter. So basically you are purchasing a ready weighed out dry mix and that is all you are saving yourself doing.
If I was able to buy a batter mix that only required water to be added then I could understand it as I always seem to be out of eggs when I want to make pancakes or yorkshire puddings.
As it is I don't buy the Mcdougalls batter mixes as often but I still like to have one in the cupboard as it does help speed thing up when I'm in a hurry.
The McDougalls mix is also very good but I do feel a little cheated.
