      .

I like Chips and have them with pretty much all of my evening meals. Perhaps not the healthiest thing, but I like them.

We tried these the other month. We have a Sainsbury's near to us and it is the closest Supermarket, so we stop in now and again for some bits and pieces. The prices in Sainsbury's can be quite expensive, but often their offers are good and I think the prices have got better.

These are frozen, come in a 1kg bag and cost £1. You could feel through the bag that these were thin French Fry type Chips, and the picture on the front showed them to be skinny as well. I had an image in my head of McDonald's Chips.

These cooked in the oven in about 20-25 minutes. I would say to keep an eye on them, although they don't cook really quick, but since they are so thin then if they were overcooked then I would say they would end up really crisp and hard. They were a nice golden colour when cooked. Slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy Potato on the inside.

These were nice. They were like McDonald's Chips but not as nice. There was a few black speckles through them and some of them were really skinny and short. We each had a nice pile of Chips and would buy them again. Made a change from thick, chunky and perhaps slightly greasy Chips.

A nice different Chip to try.

Delicious American Oven Chips From Sainsburys.

I am partial to a nice chip and recently we have been trying all different varieties as we have had quite a few family party food meals and it's nice to have lots of different things each time to try out lots of yummy things as well as enjoying some of our normal favourites.

This American Style Oven Chips are available from Sainsburys stores or www.sainsburys.co.uk with a 1kg bag currently costing £1.00 which is fantastic value for money considering the time and effort that would go in to making your chips this small, thin & lovely!

These chips are very thin, around the size of a "French Fry" crisp from Walkers and they are all fairly uniform in size with a few chips that are very small AND very thin meaning that they become a little too crisp too fast and you will probably want to fish these ones out before serving them up. There are just two ingredients that go in to making these chips (Potato (92%), Sunflower Oil (8%) ) which is always reassuring as they haven't added any rubbish to these chips as they are already high enough in fat.

Per 100g these oven chips contain 263 calories, 3.4g protein, 37.9g carbohydrate (of which 37.1g is starch), 10.9g fat (4g of which saturates), 1g fibre, 0.3g salt so obviously these should be enjoyed in moderation and 100g is easily more than enough for little ones as you will get lots of chips which will keep them satisfied without overloading them with fat and salt.

The chips take around 20-25 minutes in the oven and I usually just cook them at whatever temperature I am cooking the rest of my food at which works fine as long as I keep my eye on the chips. The chips are lovely and crisp, and crunchy on the outside whilst remaining soft and fluffy on the inside. These are perfectly thin and delicious and with a little sprinkling of salt these are just as tasty as any takeaway chips that I have had in the past. These chips are the ideal size for enjoying with a barbeque dip and they were a firm favourite in my house when I served them up, particularly with the little ones. The quality of the potatoes seemed good with no bad parts of blackened chips (well, before I cooked them anyway!). These are lovely and tasty and are just as yummy as any other thin chips that I have made in the past.

There is a vast quantity of chips for just £1.00 so these are ideal if you have a small shopping budget at the moment and still want to enjoy some treats now and again.

I was very impressed by the quality of these for the money I paid and they were very popular in my house. I will be purchasing these again as it's very easy to just throw these on a baking tray, whack in the oven and not worry about them until they are done. There are sometimes some tiny little chips which do blacken and burn a little while the other chips just brown off lightly and for this reason I am knocking one star from my rating. I would recommend these though and I will purchase them again in the near future.
