Living alone and only cooking for one person I tend to be rather lazy I have to admit to that! I tend to eat alot of convenience foods or take aways at the minute and when I do cook well I cook for me and my mate who lives in the flat downstairs. I live in a flat as does she and sometimes it seems silly as we spend most of the day together than dinner time we both go in our kitchens and cook so sometimes we take it in turns. She makes a great chicken pasta and I do her favourite...bangers and mash and I take it down like meals on wheels lol Yep it really is a case of upstairs downstairs here at the moment believe me! lol So the other day I was in ... Okay so there are two potato camps in the world; there are those who love light, fluffy, fresh mashed potato involving peeling, boiling, pulverising, seasoning, and adding hot milk and butter... then there are those who tip a packet into a bowl, pour on hot liquid, stir, and tuck in. I have a foot in each camp, because I find real mashed potatoes such an amazing comfort food, yet since i was a little girl I fell in love with the smash aliens and more importantly, the taste of instant mash. I know that instant is really not to everyones taste, I realise that in order to use this stuff, you have to actually enjoy the flavour and texture, so I guess this review is more for . Having a meal and realising there isn't quite enough of everything is awful. You feel like you're depriving everyone around you of basic essential nourishment... this is when you grab a bag of the smash. Or at least the basics brand! Obviously, a mashed potato mix is no contender to an actual mashed spud... but sometimes it's too late when you've plated up and need a quick extra bit of padding! It's alright if you already have a good main meal consisting of something like a burger, or sausages, or something along those lines with veg. I think to pull it off you need other lovely components to your meal... here's why! To make up, hot water is placed ... Read the complete review

Have you ever tried to make a meal including mashed potatoes when camping? I don't think anyone does it because it's too hard to do in a tent. This is when Sainsburys Instant Mashed Potato Mix comes into its own. I think just about anybody writing a review will explain emphatically that they prefer genuine mash to the real thing. I'm no different - but when I'm off in the great outdoors it's a different thing. A bag of instant mash is great (I put it with tinned peas, tinned sweetcorn and some Linda McCartney veggie sausages - quick, easy and tasty camping dinner). I thought the packaging was surprisingly large when I first saw it - especially ... Read the complete review

I like to make the majority of my meals from scratch but sometimes I have neither the time nor the inclination to 'do it myself' so I like to keep some tinned products or packets in the cupboard for quick & easy meals that are still relatively healthy. This instant mash comes in powdered form and to make just measure out the required amount as per the instructions on the back of the packet & you just need to add some boiled water to this mix. It's very simple to make and you can make it to the consistency that you like. To give the mash less of an artificial taste I usually add a few knobs of butter as well as some salt & pepper and I ...
