      An essential cupbord item

This product should be a standard cupboard stock item. It is only 46p and is a perfect addition to many sauces.

It is tomatoes - creamed- like a passata- pure and simple and delicious. Do not waste your money on tomato sauces for rice or pasta etc; as by adding your own herbs and/or spices to this tomato product you will end up with a delightful and fresh tasting sauce. It is also a great addition to a shepherds pie, chilli, moussaka, lasagna, the list goes on. It really does add a rich tomato flavour, and as an added bonus there is no skin and no seeds included.

It doesn't have to be used as the main constituent to a dish, but can just add an additional flavour say to a curry sauce.

In the small, easily opened carton, you get 500ml, that is superb value and I manage to get a least three tomato based sauces out of each packet.

The most important selling point for me is that it tastes so fresh, and so I often just serve it with pasta and leaves of fresh basil, accompany that simple meal with a fresh side salad and if I shut my eyes I am sitting in the Mediterranean sunshine.

When I see the prices of tomato pasta sauces I wonder who on earth would pay that much when this is so much better- as all you need to do is add your own choice of flavouring.

In this credit crunch time- can you afford not to give this a try.

A must for your food stock cupboard

I have only recently come across this little 'gem' for my stock cupboard - Sainsbury's creamed tomatoes.. an absolute bargain at only 29p.

Prior to this discovery, when making lasagne, or spaghetti bolognaise I always found that my sauces were too dry and insipid evn though I used tomato puree and canned tomatoes... I was relucant to pay the prices asked for ready made bolognaise sauces.

One day in sainsbury's I happened to spot this carton of creamed tomatoes. What a difference they have made to my cooking!! They really do make many of my dishes so much tastier....all the family have commented on them.

The product is seived and creamed tomatoes - it is very thick and very rich. It contains 500 grams of tomatoes.

This product is so versatile...it can be added to home made stews, soups and casseroles. Or it can be served hot over meatballs, sausages, chicken or white fish.

It can be added to pies, crumbles or pasties. It also makes a good marinade for kebabs, steaks or chops. If you do not need to use it all you can freeze it into cubes and use when required.

Sainsburys also do creamed tomatoes with garlic and basil for a few pence more.

Needless to say that Sainsbur's creamed tomatoes are now always on my shoping list.
