Ruddy eck, hold on to your coat tails this has a bit of a kick to it!
I love pepper, especially on my Italian dishes, but this pepper is really very good.
I don't particularly like the white and black pepper in my dishes. I don't like the scent or the taste, I just can't bear it.
Yet this has transformed many of our dishes that include meat or chicken.
This is pretty powerful in taste and scent. The two pepper are black and cayenne, go grab those tissues this will clear any cold!
This is already ground and prepared and you really do only need a pinch to transform a dish, although now I've been using this for over two years I've increased the amount and it's literally flaming gorgeous!
When we use meat/ steaks we tend to pepper both sides of the steak for 2-3 hours and then fry for a few minutes and the intensity of the flavour will blow you away.
The SCHWARTZ range rates this 2/4 for strength so that should give you some idea of how hot it will be.
The only negative thing I would say about this product is it's not widely available. We brought it once in Sainsbury's and never saw it again.
The main way we purchase is through Amazon or the website SCHWARTZ.CO.UK.
Also another thing that always gets me is the brand is very good at colour coding, Yes my friends colour coding. This is not their familiar orange top or green this is BLACK. Look out for the black top range. This on average retails at £2.38 x
I love seasoning on food and I am a huge salt and pepper fan, particularly of pepper! I usually opt for black peppercorns but when I spotted this in Sainsbury's from a brand I trust I couldn't resist giving it a go as it is something I'd never seen before!
45g see-through glass jar with a black flip-top lid to the top of it covering some small holes. On the front of the label I'm simply told that it is Schwartz Black & Red Pepper. On the back of the jar other information given includes ingredients being listed, the size of the jar is given and contact details for Schwartz are listed. it's a nice easy to handle little jar as it is slim and it's informative as it needs to be..after-all it is only pepper!
The pepper is basically ground up red and black peppercorns making an aromatic pink, fine blended powder. It is really peppery to the smell and because of the small holes to the top of it only a little is shook out at a time when you shake it.
This is a rather rich but not too hot pepper. It is interesting in taste because the red peppercorns used do taste slightly sweeter in my opinion than the black ones and also it gives a nice colour to food.
Of course you can add this to cooking if you wish to the same as you would any other pepper or simply use it to season food.
I love this interesting pepper with a slight twist to the flavour!
Available in all good supermarkets costing about £1.86 a jar!
