These are six sticks of spice heaven in the middle of winter mainly but obviously you can add these to dishes throughout the year.
Although there are only six cinnamon sticks, the barks can be pulled apart easily and used more if you want less flavour.
We normally break the sticks in half and find they still have much flavour to them as they were whole. I think you definitely need to keep these air tight in order to retain the flavour.
We tend to use cinnamon sticks for drinks. We not much for the mulled wine but cinnamon coffee is just heavenly to have.
We have the Monin syrups but we have found that the pure taste of cinnamon is better. The syrups are just too sugary and leave the coffee sometimes to sickly.
When we make hot chocolate, the taste is good but we still have not mastered the taste with the sticks yet and find we're being naughty and using the cinnamon Monin syrups as this comes through much better.
With food, we add these to casseroles of all things- that was an accident that paid off. This is great for rice but I don't particularly like the taste.
We've tried various brands of cinnamon sticks and have found that SCHWARTZ offers the most freshest and pungent smell and great taste.
As with all the range, they come in good air tight jar type of container which is needed to retain the flavour.
