“ Brand: Schwartz / Type: Other Spices „
Over the last few weeks here on Dooyoo its been a bit unfashionable to write about food or drink let alone suggest loads as products for the database. But I wrote about food and drink before the changes and Im not going to stop now so I thought Id start with a review on this "Perfect Shake Classic BBQ Seasoning" which over the last few weeks has become an essential item in our house as we all lover it so much!
Price: About £1.50 For A 44g Bottle
Stockists: Any Supermarket
For: Best For Providing A Classic BBQ Taste To Chicken & Pork But Can Be Used In Marinades & Pretty Much Anything You Like BBQ With!
What worries me slightly is the bottle we have doesnt seem to have any nutritional information on it and I cant find any on the internet. What aee Schwartz trying to hide? In light of that Im guessing this is not good for you but use it sparingly and you should be fine.
Now when I say this is a versatile seasoning I really do mean it and for someone like me who absolutely LOVE BBQ flavouring on anything I have been using it quite a bit. Ive never personally tried it with pork but I have had it with both chicken and a homemade beef burger at a BBQ and it tastes wonderful with both of those. I usually do marinate my meat in this rather than pouring loads of it straight on and all you do to achieve that is mix this with a little bit of oil and leave your chicken breasts/whatever meat you fancy to soak in that for a few hours. I think the flavour ends up stronger that way and the meat isnt as dried out.
Ive also made BBQ potato wedges with this seasoning and even though it is designed to taste best with meat I reckon it tastes best on wedges. Just cut up a few potatoes into wedge shapes, spray with fry light and sprinkle on some of this. Believe me it is yummy.
The best thing about this BBQ seasoning is it actually tastes like what it promises. The best thing about a proper BBQ is that really smoked, woody taste and this seems to have captured that really well. Its described by Schwartz as a blend of onion, herbs and spices but for people who hate spice like I do you neednt worry as the spicy kick in this really is super mild (and this comes from someone who thinks Flamin Hot Monster Munch are too spicy!) it has a really subtle sweet taste to it as well but I think you dont taste that straight away as all the other ingredients are quite strong.
Whether your planning a BBQ or not I highly recommend this as Im sure you could find loads of things to use this seasoning with - you can even add it to Spaghetti Bolognese for a sweeter/spicier kick. Extremely versatile and highly recommended.
