 ... potatoes cook in around 20-25 mins according to the bag, however after 40 mins my potatoes looked burnt in some parts but were powdery and undercooked in others. It is so hard to cook these as they don't cook evenly and they never taste as good as home made, actually they never taste good at all. They taste a little synthetic and powdery and not as a roast potato should. I've never had a nice one. They are just such a big let down. I'm a big fan of Roast Potatoes and do on the whole cook my own from scratch. However, there are the odd occasions where Roast Potatoes would go perfect I just don't have time to wash, peel, cut and roast them from scratch. I have tried a few bags of Tesco's own brand Roast Potatoes to give them a fair shot and thought that they would be the answer to my prayers. They cost around 69p a bag and are placed next to popular brands such as Aunt Bessie's. I bought a packet of Tesco frozen roast potatoes last week for around 69p and I must say they were absolutely appalling and not a patch on home made roasters or even Aunt Bessies roast potatoes! The amount of fat that came out of these during cooking astounded me, particularly considering the fact that they didn't feel overly greasy or oily while still frozen. When cooked I wasn't impressed with the appearance of them as they had browned very unevenly and while parts of the potatoes were golden, other patches were as pale as when I put them in the oven and that was in spite of two turns during the cooking time.
