Absolut - 100
Advantages: Great on its own or as a mixer, good value for the larger bottle
Disadvantages: Larger bottle takes time to get through, larger to store even if better value
I am not a massive alcohol drinker, I have explained this in previous review that I have wrote but the one alcoholic drink that I do enjoy, although I would not say that this is on a regular basis is a vodka. I am not what I would call particularly loyal to a brand of vodka and if we are on a night out and I am not drinking wine then it will be a vodka mixed with something. The review that I am going to be writing at today is on a bottle of the Absolut Vodka, this is the Absoult 100 range and we picked up this drink just before Christmas. Here are my thoughts on the drink.
I have found that there can be quite a price gap dependant on where you buy this drink from. We purchased this from a local off-licence as we saw it advertised at a low price in the local press. I think we paid around the £20.00 mark for it. I have seen this drink in the larger Supermarkets around town and it has tended to be nearer the £25.00 mark and at the most expensive I have seen it priced at £28.00. It is definitely worth trying to shop around for the drink as there are savings to be had.
The bottle that I have is the 700ml bottle and it was certainly heavy carrying it home. The bottle is certainly very sturdy. you can see form the picture attached to this review that the colour of the bottle is a dark black. There is some quite vibrant writing on the packaging of the bottle. There is the Absolut logo in shiny silver lettering as well as the 100 numbers. the bottle is clearly marked that it is 700ml in size and you should be aware that it is 50% volume.
There is information on the flavour of this drink as there are others in the Absolut brand. We are told that this one is a mixture of grainy character along with notes of dried fruit, Whilst many have an idea of what Vodka will taste like, I have never seen mixed fruit thrown into the equation before but it certainly sounded like one that I would like.
We are told that the drink needs to be stored away from heat and light and when we served it I first had the drink with a mixture of orange juice. I was very impressed with the flavour and the vodka had a very smooth texture and the Absolute brand are right, it does have a velvet like texture about it as well.
You can serve this drink just with ice but I always prefer to have a mixture with mine and as well as having it with orange juice I have tried it with diet coke and cranberry juice and it has always been a really easy to drink mixture.
I would be more than happy to recommend this drink, we are still to get half way down the bottle nad we did have a few drinks over the Christmas period from it as well as friends having some as well so it lasts well, especially when used as a mixture, with a refreshing taste when used with juices I really enjoy this smooth vodka blend.
4 out of 5 from me on this one
Thank you for reading
