      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A nice fruity vodka which is quite refreshing.

      Absolute Blueberri Acai & Pomegranate.

I recently bought this on my return from a trip overseas. It is vodka I had yet to try. I love the Absolute brand as I always find it a pure clean cut Vodka either neat or flavoured. Some of the flavours are superb and some are just special editions. One such as Tropical I have only ever seen once and sadly have never seen it since. This Absolute berri Acai and pomegranate is absolutely delicious.

The bottle is clear glass with pictures of blue berries on it with the description ABSOLUTE BERRI ACAI. The shape of the bottle is undeniable Absolute with the picture of an old man just below the neck of the bottle. Absolute vodka is a Swedish brand and this little flavoured number is a really fruity tasting drink. It is best served neat with a chaser of fruit juice. Pomegranate juice would be ideal. When you open the sealed bottle take a sniff from the neck of the bottle. The fruity aroma is subtle but smells really fruity and not unpleasant at all. It retails for around £17-20 a litre at duty free prices or the same price for a 70CL bottle in the supermarket.

Absolute vodka has been made since 1897 from winter wheat grain from Southern Sweden. The wheat is unusual in that it is planted in the autumn so that the wheat hardens under the snow before growing throughout the following year before being harvested. I really like the Absolute brands of vodka as I always find them high quality, well produced and very well blended with a variety of fruity flavours. This one is a winner in my eyes as I love the taste of this.

      How to serve and drink!

The best way to drink this is poured over ice. Allow the vodka to become really icy cold then take a sip. Feel the vodka in your mouth then slowly swallow it. Follow this up with a sip of fruit juice to savour the effect of the fruit. The vodka is quite a smooth tasting vodka but at the same time it is quite hot on the back of the tongue and warming as it glides down your throat. There is a beautiful after taste of the fruit in the drink which I find really nice. It is not dissimilar to Blackcurrant and blackberry. It is not overly sweet but quite refreshing.

I have never tried Acai berry but I understand that it comes from South America and according to my daughter it has useful diuretic properties. Funnily enough this bottle did not last too long as it is quite delicious to drink and would be ideal for the summer. No sugar is added to the vodka so that it is not overly sweet but you do get the taste of the berries they have used. As for pomegranate there is not really a describable smell to it or not one you could identify straight away.

      Would I recommend this vodka?

Yes it is a delicious fruity flavoured vodka that is made using natural ingredients. It is a nice fruity drink that is ideal for summer months sitting in the garden and enjoying a nice fresh tasting drink.

perfect blend of blueberries and pomegranate

Everyone has heard of Absolut vodka, and has probably tried at least one of the flavours, even if it's just the regular unflavoured vodka - the Absolut Blue. Absolut is a Swedish vodka, and is produced near Åhus, in the province of Skåne, in southern Sweden. Which funnily enough is the province in which we used to live.

Absolut produce many different varieties of vodka:
Absolut Blue - the regular unflavoured vodka - a 40% ABV 80 proof vodka (launched in 1979)
Absolut Peppar - roasted jalapenos, green tomato and dried herbs flavour (launched in 1986)
Absolut Citron - lemon flavour (launched in 1988)
Absolut Kurant - blackcurrant flavour (launched in 1992)
Absolut Mandrin - orange and mandarin flavour (launched in 1999)
Absolut Vanilia - vanilla flavour (launched in 2003)
Absolut Raspberri - raspberry flavour (launched in 2004)
Absolut Apeach - peach flavour (launched in 2005)
Absolut Ruby Red - grapefruit flavour (launched in 2006)
Absolut Pears - pear flavour (launched in 2007)
Absolut Mango - mango flavour (launched in 2007)
Absolut Berri Acai - acai, blueberry and pomegranate flavour (launched in 2010)
        and Absolut 100 - a 50% ABV 100 proof unflavoured vodka (launched in 2007).

I've tried many different flavoured vodka brands, and the Absolut range are definitely my favourite, I've actually tried all of the Absolut flavours. I guess that makes me sound like a bit of a lush! Absolut have a wide range of flavours, and all of them bar one (the Absolut Peppar) are delicious. The Berry Acai flavour is one that I've only just recently tried, it was a gift from a Swedish friend when she came to stay with us. I think that it's definitely one of the nicest Absolut flavours, and it's certainly one that we will repurchase ourselves.

Unlike a lot of other flavoured vodka ranges, the Absolut flavoured range doesn't contain any added sugar, therefore they are not too sweet, you just get the true taste of the relevant flavour. Absolut Berri Acai has quite a subtle flavour. I can definitely taste both the blueberries and the pomegranates in this, I'm not sure what acai tastes like - so I'd have to say that I probably can't taste this! Berri Acai is a really tasty vodka, and it has a really pleasant fruity fragrance, with a somewhat flowery undertone to it. It has a very fresh and fruity taste (with again that flowery undertone to it), and the blueberry and pomegranate are a perfect mix of flavours. Because Berri Acai has quite a subtle flavour I would imagine that most people would actually like it.

This is the perfect vodka to drink either straight, on the rocks, or with a mixer of your choice.
I think that it's delicious with paired with just slimline tonic or soda water. I also like it with either pomegranate juice or cranberry juice.
My husband likes this neat just over ice, and I have to admit that it is quite nice this way. I don't normally like vodka neat at all, but I can drink a small glass of this neat over ice.
It also works well in cocktails, it gives an interesting new twist to traditional cocktails, or it enables you to invent your own new flavoured cocktails.

I'd definitely recommend Absolut Berri Acai, and huge thanks to K for the gift!
