Advantages: tastes nice, will last long, not as harsh after taste like cheap vodka
Disadvantages: don't drink too much - especially as shots!
Vodka is one of those alcoholic spirits that come in many shapes and forms and flavours, but personally I always find the more branded types taste better. Absolut vodka is one of them!
It comes in a clear glass bottle with a blue branding and a simple white twist cap lid. The vodka itself looks like water - but don't be fooled as it has left me in some undesirable positions stumbling home on a night so it is not as tame as it appears! It has a high vol of 40% which for me as a lightweight is pretty strong - one shot and I'm either a bit of a mess more often that not! In other words, it is a vodka which packs a punch has quite a harsh taste and tastes very strong and raw when consumed neat, and so I would recommend it to be drunk with caution and for me that means to only drink it as a mixer.
I have drunk this neat on the odd occasion and it is a lot smoother and easier to gulp as it does not have such a sharp aftertaste like cheaper vodkas but does still give me a tingly feeling in the back of my throat! In terms of smell it has a distinct vodka aroma to it, quite rich and authentic so even though paying over the odds you know just from opening the bottle that you are getting the real deal!
In terms of drinking absolut with a mixers, I find it tastes great as a vodka and lemonade = lush! The two compliment each other and make for a really subtle but delicious drink that can be drunk continuously (not that I advocate alcoholism) without any dramatic drunk scenes occurring. Then again that is provided you are drinking singles and not doubles! It also goes in well making homemade cocktails or with some Rose as a spritzer as a small amount makes all the difference meaning a bottle of absolut will undoubtedly last longer.
A 70cl bottle averages about £15-£20 from corner shops to supermarkets so for a leading brand I definitely think it is reasonably priced and is worth the added value over cheap vodka brands. It is a trusted brand and you know you are getting genuine vodka which will taste good, so for this I will always recommend it!
Summary: a vodka I would definitely recommend x
