Voilets are blue ============= With spirits still at level one, time for another review. I've covered golden rum before, and alluded within that review as to how bland white rum is; another option for those that like their rum to have character is dark rum. To many Englishmen, what the drink should be. Why is this? Simple. The carribean has been the centre of Rum production for what seems like forever. This group of islands was a prime stop for trade crossing from the old world to the new, and as such were fought over endlessly. The British, the French, The Spanish, The Portugese and even the Dutch all players on this tableau. If ... Read the complete review

Captian Morgan *********** Captain Morgans rum is named after Captain Morgan, funnily enough. Captain Morgan was a buccaneer who was born in Wales and spent his early years in swashbuckling sea adventures, and rising to fame through his daring pursuits as a privateer. As a representative of the English government, Captain Morgan was empowered to fight the Spaniards on his country's behalf and is still respected as one of Britain's most successful military strategists. However, the other day at a Airport they had a sale on Captain Morgan, and since I am rather partial to swashbuckling pirates, the bottle stood out to me. I got home and immediately got some coke in the freezer, and hoped to relax after a long trip, with a stiff drink. But instead of the familiar smooth taste of Rum, I got something quite ... Captain Morgan is my favourite 'tipple'. i have no idea baout its history and I dont really give a thought about history when sitting down in a bar and chooshing which beverge to have. Captain Morgan is within the catagory of Rum, dark rum. It is a slightly fruity, slightly bitter rum. Dont get dark rum confused with white, it has a completley differetn taste. Although it is very different to other dark rum like (Navy rum) as it is less bitter. It is less sweet than Sailor Jerry as it doesnt have a vanilla undertone. Captain morgan is better with a 'splash' aka coke, lime or soda, lemonade or within a cocktail. I would not recommend having this ... Read the complete review
