One of our favourite vodka brands is Danzka Vodka. I discovered Danzka vodkas for the first time when flying in and out of Copenhagen airport when we lived in Southern Sweden and then in Denmark. I picked up a gift pack which had a mini 50ml bottle of each of the four different flavoured Danzka vodkas in, they all turned out to be really nice and we've continued to buy all four of the different flavours ever since. As the name would suggest Danzka is a Danish vodka, it's made from 100% whole-wheat Danish wheat, and it's produced and bottled in Denmark. The Danzka vodka range includes; Danzka Red (the original and unflavoured 40% ABV vodka), Danzka Fifty (a 50% ABV unflavoured vodka), and then four different flavoured versions - Citrus (lemon flavoured vodka), Currant (vodka with a hint of blackcurrant), CranberryRaz (vodka infused with cranberry and raspberry), and Grapefruit (vodka with a twist of grapefruit) - which is the flavour that I'm reviewing now. All of the Danzka vodka varieties are sold in really funky brushed aluminium cylindrical bottles, they have a very streamlined, sophisticated and modern look, and they are very elegant and very Scandinavian looking in design. The metal bottle was designed for more than just its funky looks though, it was also designed to chill the vodka faster than a glass bottle would do. Danzka Grapefruit vodka is described as ''having a fresh and smooth taste, natural grapefruit flavour is added to distilled vodka , producing a unique vodka flavour''. Danzka Grapefruit vodka is 40% ABV. Grapefruit is definitely my husbands favourite flavour out of the four, and the one that he requests the most often. It's a very citrussy flavoured vodka, and it does indeed taste of grapefruits. It's a very smooth tasting vodka, with a very crisp and refreshing zesty grapefruit taste. It doesn't have that tart taste that some grapefruits can have, I would say that it is more of a fresh and smooth fruity taste. I'm actually not a grapefruit lover at all, however I do like this vodka, I don't love it like my husband does, but I certainly don't dislike it, I find that I just need to find the right mixer for it. I would say that even if you don't like grapefruit (as I don't), there's still a good chance that you would like this vodka. Danzka Grapefruit is perfect when served chilled, either on it's own over ice if that's your preference (my husband mainly drinks it this way), or when mixed with your favourite mixer or in a cocktail. The obvious mixer for this is grapefruit juice, and my husband loves it this way, however for me this is just too grapefruity. I think that it's nice when mixed with cranberry juice and a very generous squirt of lime juice. I also like it mixed with gin and tonic water and a lime wedge (Bombay Sapphire is my gin preference here). I very often bought a bottle of Danzka Grapefruit when passing through Copenhagen airport, either for ourselves (my husband mainly though I guess), or as a gift for someone. I would find that more often than not Copenhagen airport would always have some sort of offer on Danzka vodkas. I do still occasionally buy a bottle of this (for him) when I go back and visit friends. Admittedly it's not as cheap now as it used to be a few years ago, but this is due to the falling exchange rates.
Danzka Vodka is a quality premium Danish vodka that is 'Made to Chill' and the world's only vodka to be offered in an aluminum bottle. This stylish Scandinavian designed bottle chills the vodka faster than glass bottles, a major advantage to delivering the optimal cold serve.
