Advantages: gorgeous packing design and a nice taste

Disadvantages: some people might be snobby about it

I am very very new to whiskey- only having tried about 4 whiskey's in my entire life (do girls drink whiskey?)- so expect me to say the wrong things and if you know all about whiskey then you'll probably laugh at my review.

This is a blended whiskey, which means that whiskey snobs and purists turn their noses up and demand a single malt- personally i'm not offended by the idea of a company trying to make the best tasting product by combining flavours.

The only whiskey I can really remember vividly is Laphoraig, an incredibly peaty- smokey tasting whiskey. Jonnie Walker black label tastes most similar to that, not quite as smokey but still noticably so (it's easier to drink than Laphoriag, as measured by the fact it takes me twice as long to consume a glass of that. It also has a slightly spicy taste. I actually like it, I like it a lot.

The bottle is incredibly sexy, it looks like a premium product (it costs £25 so it's not cheap)- it looks like something a professional design team have come up with, rather than some cobbled together look that you get on some of the smaller distilleries products (Laphroaig you are guilty of awful packaging too!). In short this looks great on the shelf, and the black and gold box it comes in means that if you buy them this as a gift, they will likely think it was more expensive than it really was.

Overall a nice whiskey with a complex but not too distracting smokey flavour.

Summary: well worth it, a good buy
