Tequila is not just for slamming in bars and drinking in silly shooter games, but it is a varied and flavoured spirit that can enjoyed as a short or in a cocktail. People forget that there are many different Tequila brands and different ways to distil it, each way giving a unique flavour. The Ocho Reposado is rested for 8 weeks and 8 day. This makes is a very smooth, complex drink and it is much better being sipped that drank as a shooter. Do you do not want to taste such a great tequila. As a massive fan of margaritas, I tend to always buy a bottle of nice tequila from the airport when I go away.

I paid £21.00 for this bottle of premium Tequila, this is a great price to pay. You will not find this in supermarkets so you will need to locate a good independent liquor store or look out for it at duty free shops in airports as you can get spirits a lot cheaper than at home.
The tequila comes in a 75cl bottle and it is 40 % proof. It is golden in colour, I much prefer the smoothness of gold tequila as it is a little sweeter than white tequila. It tastes less harsh and it makes a far more enjoyable drink to sip. I much prefer to make margaritas with a good golden tequila as it works well with the smoothness of the liquor and the bitterness of the lime. This tequila tastes lovely and whether it is down to the 8 weeks and 8 day resting process (is it me or is this really 9 weeks and one day, I guess it does not sound as catchy!) or whether it is down to the quality of the Agave, who knows but it is a very flavoured liquor.
The tequila has warm, sweet flavour to it and on the same token it has a zesty bitterness to it. The drink blends well and it works well as cocktail spirit however a premium liquor such as this is often best enjoyed as a sipping spirit and drunk on its own. I can taste good quality tequila in my margaritas so I always like to use a spirit that is premium or at least golden, this way I always get the results I am looking for.
This is a very delicious golden tequila that is priced considerably cheaper than some of the other premium tequilas. There is a lovely warm subtle sweetness to it that works beautifully with the bitter taste of the Agave. I would recommend this to any tequila lover or even to anyone wanting to try something new.
Nose: Delicate, soft and vanilla. Taste: Fine almond, vanilla with slight cinnamon notes. Hints of tapenade, vegetal. Very little evidence of oak or woodiness. Chewy, warm mouth-feel and a long subtle finish.
