Advantages: A nice drink which goes down easily.
I first drank vodka many years ago mixed with a diet coke. I was quite a late starter when it came to enjoying a drink as there was never anything I liked the taste of - everything seemed to strong for a lightweight like myself and I couldn't stand the smell of most alcohol. The first time I tried vodka and diet coke I liked the way it blended well and most importantly I liked the taste.
I have tried several brands of vodka over the years and Smirnoff is my main choice, my favourite vodka is ciroc vodka however it is about four times the price of Smirnoff so not really affordable to be drinking regularly so this is the one I tend to buy, and it is the only alcohol other than certain wines that I drink.
I had some Smirnoff at the weekend when having a rare night out attending a charity event and I must say it has special powers, after drinking a few vodka and diet cokes I realised I suddenly had the ability to dance better than everyone and sing better than everyone else in the place, I can even remember at one point doing the new dance craze which I never knew I had in me as I am normally the person sitting down minding my own business. I think my powers were due to the fact that I had binge drank before even leaving home - not that I endorse binge drinking as this was something I assumed only younger people did at weekends and last time i saw binge drinking was at a freshers week party so many years ago, but without realising my home measures were more like double shots and therefore my recommended 3-4 units of alcohol had been consumed by my second drink, and so according to recommended guidelines I was a binge drinker!
Smirnoff is very easy to drink when mixed with diet coke I find you don't feel like you are having alcohol until that hazy mist appears and I tend to get a big smile on my face and love everyone I come into contact with, I do tend to turn into one of those super friendly drinkers who just want to dance and enjoy the night, as I said there are not many nights out nowadays being a mum of three but if I do get out I really do make the most of it.
I find when drinking Smirnoff that I do wake up with a bad headache but these only seem worse as I am getting older as I used to be able to drink more without the hangover but now it's awful, although it doesn't seem as bad as when drinking a cheaper vodka.
When checking out the current prices for Smirnoff (I paid £15.00 for a litre on offer in Costco) I came across the following statements:
"A veritable behemoth in the alcohol industry with a case of Smirnoff vodka being sold every 2 seconds worldwide".
Smirnoff red is triple distilled and 10 times filtered for purity.
Smirnoff is a brand of vodka owned and produced by British company Diageo. The Smirnoff brand began with a vodka distillery founded in Moscow by Pyotr Arsenievich - son of illiterate Russian peasants.
Smirnoff can be purchased from most supermarkets and off licenses and is currently selling at Asda for:
35cl - £8.27
50cl - £10.00
70cl - £13.00
1ltr - £17.00
At 37.5% it is a strong drink and most of my friends who drink it do have it with mixers, you can also drink with pure orange, lemonade even cranberry juice although I have only ever drank with a diet coke so it is quite a versatile drink and you will find vodka in many cocktails too.
It comes in a clear glass bottle with red labelling and a red twist lid and is clear and does look like water although the smell will tell you straight away it is far more than this.
Please don't believe that this drink gives you 'magic powers that give you the ability to sing and dance' as it does not state this anywhere and was just the result of me getting slightly too drunk, and to anyone reading this who may have been at the same event I was at the weekend - my sincerest apologies for witnessing my dreadful singing and dancing skills, at least the bruises are beginning to fade ;)
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it helps you make a responsible informed decision on future purchases of alcohol - always choose the Smirnoff!
Summary: A great choice of vodka, would recommend to all fellow responsible drinkers.
